Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship ✅
Live Zydeco. A $30,000 Endowment. Plenty of Memories. These phrases describe yesterday’s formal presentation of the endowed memorial scholarship that will be available to students at UL Lafayette.
With remarks from AcA Executive Director Sam Oliver, Louisiana Music Museum Director Jane Vidrine, Son of Clifton CJ Chenier, Tony Sylvester of the Gia Maione Prima Foundation, Valcour Records’ Joel Savoy, and UL’s College of the Arts Dean Daryl Joseph Moore - we could not imagine a better way to wrap-up a year long celebration of the one-and-only King of Zydeco! 🪗
We celebrated the endowment of the Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship Fund in the future home of the Louisiana Music Museum with friends from Acadiana Center for the Arts, Valcour Records, UL Lafayette College of the Arts, UL Lafayette Traditional Music, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the Gia Maione Prima Foundation.
We’d like to thank the 82 specific donors that made this endowment possible, and we look forward to assisting the preservation of traditional music in Lafayette and the world!h
