It’s our Executive Director & Head Rock Steady Coach, Chad Welch's birthday. So here are a few things to know.

He has been an ACE Certified Trainer since 2016. He is also an ACE Senior
Fitness Specialist.

He has been teaching Rock Steady Boxing since 2018. Longer than anyone in the area.
In 2019 he became Box N Burn Certified.

He started Rock Steady Boxing Lafayette in 2020 during the pandemic to help people with Parkinson’s continue to fight back when everything was shut down.

He is a Parkinson’s Foundation Ambassador.

He started the first Parkinson’s Foundation Walk in the state of Indiana, which has now become the Parkinson’s Foundation Indianapolis Moving Day.

HIs mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2010, so he has a personal connection to Parkinson’s. And she is currently a boxer in the Rock Steady Boxing Lafayette program.

He founded Lafayette Area Parkinson’s Support (LeAPS) in 2024 to help increase awareness & support for those impacted by Parkinson’s. And our programing continues to grow including two support groups and a choir.

Seated hip flexor marches are a highly effective, low-impact exercise. They strengthen the iliopsoas muscles, which improves your ability to lift your knees, climb stairs, and maintain a steady stride. They also work the tibialis anterior, the front of the shin, which is responsible for lifting the toes. This is critical for keeping us from tripping when walking or stepping over obstacles. This simple movement significantly reduces the risk of tripping and falling.
