A little kindness can go a long way, even beyond our community!

You might remember sisters Reagan and Kherington, who have previously supported LTHC through donations of hand warmers and birthday kits. Well, their kindness hasn't stopped!

Although their family has moved away from Greater Lafayette, Kherington continues to share her passion for helping others. Recently, she told her teacher about her experiences supporting LTHC, including a time she made and donated pancakes for our guests.

Inspired by Kherington's story, her teacher decided to get involved, too! She made approximately 60 pancakes, froze them, and sent them along with Kherington and her family, who are back in town this week.

What makes this story even sweeter? Despite moving away, Reagan and Kherington have already asked their mom if they can continue their annual hand warmer donations and their newer tradition of putting together birthday kits!

Kindness doesn't stop at city limits, and neither does the impact of inspiring others to give back.

Thank you, Kherington, Reagan, Sarah, and Kherington's teacher for continuing to think of LTHC and the people we serve. We are so grateful to have you as part of the LTHC family, no matter where life takes you!

Learning, connecting, and bringing new ideas back to our community!

This week, Cynthia and Rosa traveled to Seattle to participate in Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) training, connecting with professionals from across the country who share a common mission: helping Veterans find and maintain stable housing.

Throughout the training, they explored strategies for navigating challenging situations, overcoming barriers to housing, strengthening safety planning, and connecting Veterans with the resources and support they need for long term stability.

One of their biggest takeaways? No matter where we are in the country, many of the challenges are the same, and so is our commitment to the Veterans we serve.

Opportunities like this allow our team to learn from others, share experiences, and bring valuable ideas back to LTHC to strengthen our Veterans Services Program.

We are grateful for Cynthia and Rosa's dedication to continued learning and their commitment to helping Veterans in our community build a more stable future!

Every door opens to possibility, and ours open to resources, support, opportunities, and a community ready to help.

For someone experiencing homelessness, walking through our doors might mean a warm meal, a hot shower, a conversation with a case manager, or taking the first steps toward finding a place to call home.

No two journeys look the same, but everyone who walks through our doors has a story, goals, and a future worth investing in.

And we're here to help them take that next step.

Today is World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day, two important reminders that housing stability and mental well-being are deeply connected.

Experiencing homelessness is about more than not having a place to call home. The uncertainty of where to sleep, how to meet basic needs, and what tomorrow might bring can take a significant toll on a person's mental health.

At the same time, mental health challenges can create additional barriers to finding and maintaining stable housing.

We recognize that ending homelessness takes more than providing housing. It takes compassion, understanding, supportive services, and a community willing to see the whole person.

Today, and every day, we remain committed to helping individuals and families find not just housing, but the stability and support needed to move forward.
