On May 18, we held our second spring footwear giveaway at the Stand Down For Homeless Vets event. For the veterans, we were able to take all new hiking boots (preferred over tennis shoes).
The volunteers included my husband, my son, and myself. This is a much smaller event than others we serve at, and the only event where I get to interact directly with guests. Not only was it special to serve with my family members at one of our last events, it was great to talk with and serve individual guests.
It was such a rewarding event. We were happy to express our gratitude to the veterans for their service, and they were touched by our sincere appreciation. We heard stories about their service, saw sacrifices they made due to their service, and could tell how proud they are of America and all of America's armed services.
So happy that Heart & Sole could have an impact on our guests that day.
