Great news, y'all! Thanks to the incredible support of our recent fundraising campaign, we at (mrcicharities.org) have successfully secured the first two trademarks (logo & word mark) for Rise of the Moors (riseofthemoors.org) at the state level in Indiana!

This is a HUGE step forward in reclaiming the narrative and using the power of this name for good. We want to be very clear: WE ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE RISE OF THE MOORS MILITIA INVOLVED IN THE 2021 MASSACHUSETTS STANDOFF.

MRCI Charities acquired the rights to Rise of the Moors in July 2024 with the goal of offsetting the negative connotations associated with the name due to the unrelated militia group. We believe in the potential of Rise of the Moors to be a force for positive change, and securing the trademarks allows us to build a strong foundation for our future endeavors.

But the journey doesn't stop here! We're now moving forward to file for federal trademark registration. ️ Stay tuned for updates on our progress, and keep sharing your support!

Making advantage of our affiliation w/ Higher Power 😁

Why do both a State AND a Federal Trademark registration? Aside from the protections registration provides to your brand, sometimes the state won't do anything if it's infringed-- their registration is just a placeholder w slightly more bite than a common law claim. Regardless, a state filing is a great $10 test (cost may vary across states) to find the defects in your application before submitting it on the MUCH more expensive federal level, where registered marks are VIGOROUSLY protected.
