One of the most fun things a Scout does each year is the Pinewood Derby.🏎️

What is the Pinewood Derby?
The Pinewood Derby is a Cub Scout racing event where participants build unpowered, gravity-powered wooden cars from a kit and race them down a sloped track. The activity, introduced in 1953, involves designing and constructing a car that adheres to specific weight and size regulations, with cubs leaders mentoring the Scouts through the process.

On the Cub Scout advancement trail, a child progresses from rank to rank, learning new skills as they go. As they move forward, the requirements get more challenging to match their new skills and abilities. Cub Scout advancement includes a wide range of group and individual activities kids enjoy. More importantly, the activities are carefully selected to encourage moral, physical, and intellectual development.

WHY JOIN SCOUTING?

Scouting’s programs and outdoor adventures give young people the opportunity and freedom to explore a world beyond the boundaries of everyday life. It presents them with chances to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence and develop leadership skills. These experiences not only help Scouts while they are young, but also stay with them throughout their adult lives, growing into exceptional men and women that respect their family, community, religion, country and themselves.

With parent’s and kid’s schedules growing busier every day, Scouting makes the most of what little time parents have to positively impact their kids’ lives.

So what are you waiting for? Contact us to learn more and head over to our next informational meeting S'Mores and More held tomorrow evening.

CUB SCOUTING IS FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

If you are a parent looking for ways to make the most of the time you have with their kids and help them to be prepared for life, then scouting is for you!

In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.

Kids will enjoy hiking, nature, science, citizenship, first aid, sports, and more. With scouting, kids are brought in the middle of the action – from fishing, biking and canoeing to launching rockets and making slime – where they get even closer to the experiences that Scouting brings to life. Adventures are earned as a Cub Scout advances toward their badge of rank. Once an adventure is completed, a Cub Scout receives recognition for their achievement.

Cub Scouting with Pack 17 is open to girls and boys grades Kindergarten - 5th grade. Get in touch with us and come join the fun!
