KIWANIS KARES - Pleasant Street School

The Laconia Kiwanis KARES program (Kids and Reading Equal Success) promotes literacy in our local elementary schools. Kiwanis members and volunteers visit schools to donate books, read to students, and engage in various activities.

Originally designed by the Laconia Kiwanis Club in 2002, this program has become one of our favorite signature community service initiatives.

If you have an interest in supporting literacy in our local schools, consider becoming a Kiwanis member!

Thank you to all who took a chance and purchased tickets. Proceeds from this raffle will go directly to Kiwanis children's initiatives in 2026 - Bike 'n' Board, Kiwanis KARES, Free Throw Competition, and so many more!!

**⚽️ Support Our Youth at the Finals Tonight! 🍔🥤**
This week the **Laconia Kiwanis Club** is teaming up with the **Laconia High School Key Club**—a group of dedicated students supported by Kiwanis through our **Student Leadership Program (SLP)**. Together, we’re encouraging leadership, service, and community spirit!

The **Key Club students** are running the **High School Concession Stand** during the **Division 4 Girls and Boys Soccer Finals** happening **TODAY at Laconia High School**.

📍 **Where:** Laconia High School
🕔 **First Game Begins:** 5:00 PM

Come cheer on the teams, support our youth, and grab a bite from the **Food Shack**—your snack purchase helps fund student-led community service and leadership projects!

📚💙 **KARES — Kids and Reading Equals Success!** 💙📚

The Laconia Kiwanis Club had our first KARES visit of the season with the **third graders at Elm Street Elementary School**! Through this program, we share the joy of reading and help children build a lifelong love for books.

Each student had the opportunity to **choose two new books to take home** — stories that become *theirs to keep.* Our members spent the morning **reading together, enjoying snacks, and creating fun crafts**, all while encouraging the value of learning and imagination.

KARES is one of our favorite ways to live our Kiwanis mission — **serving the children of our community with caring, character, and joy.**
