"Weirs Community Park is one of the coolest parks... probably ever" says Laconia Parks and Recreation - and we agree! We're excited to bring a new farmers market to such a great, prime location in the heart of the lakes region - just around the corner from the Weirs Roundabout. Opening day is Saturday, May 25 at 10AM - put it on your calendar! 😁

It is with sorrowed hearts we say goodbye to our Friend and former President, Steve Jette. We will miss you, Steve, thank you for the laughs.

Obituary as written: (please read and visit the website for condolences)

Steven Dodge Jette lived a robust and dignified life. He died Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, New Hampshire. He was 77 years old.

He is survived by his children, Shara Noel Bedard and her husband, Jon-Paul of West Roxbury, Massachusetts, and Steven Alex Jette of Laconia, New Hampshire. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Steven and Olivia Bedard.

Steve was born in 1946 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, to parents Virginia and Romeo Jette and raised in Sanbornville, New Hampshire, in their family home with his older brother, Peter Jette.

He learned French from his grandmother, Justine Jette when he was a boy, which came in very handy later when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April of 1966. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Ashland and visited Aranci Bay, Sardinia, Lovo Santo, Corsica, Gibraltar; Valencia, Spain; Marseilles, France; and Naples and La Spezia, Italy. The U.S.S. Ashland took part in NATO Exercise Dawn Patrol, which also involved French and Greek naval forces. Steve was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service during the Vietnam War.

Steve was fearless in pursuing different business ventures throughout his life. He had a passion for fast cars, and his first venture was a speed shop he called Steve’s Performance Center in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. In the late 1970s, he and his family owned a convenience store called the Yankee Peddler in Lakeville, Massachusetts. In the mid-1980s, he was co-owner of the Apple Computer retail store, The Microstore, in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He also served as a Plymouth Chamber of Commerce representative. Steve later worked for Falcon Microsystems on a government project due to his expertise. He later moved his family to Laconia, New Hampshire and managed a water park called Surf Coaster USA while he conducted work as a computer consultant. He also served as President of the Weirs Beach Community Park Association.

Steve loved blues music, going to the shows, even working security at a favorite venue. He also enjoyed working at every Laconia Bike Week rally. He made close friends and was admired by colleagues in every place he lived and worked, keeping connected with all of them throughout his life. He loved his coffee, geopolitics, and the occasional Drambuie β€œneat.” He hated French toast.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, March 1st, 2024 at 1:00pm-2:00p.m., with a service at 2:00p.m., followed by Military Honors by the U.S. Navy at Peaslee Funeral Home, 2079 Wakefield Road, Sanbornville, New Hampshire 03872. A reception at 3:00 p.m., across the street at Poor People’s Pub, 1 Witchtrot Road, Sanbornville, NH 03872.

Flowers are welcome; Contributions can be sent to the American Heart Association of New Hampshire: https://www.heart.org/en/affiliates/new-hampshire

He will be dearly missed by all.
