We’re hiring! WDVA is seeking a full-time Program Assistant for our Transitional Housing Program in Orting.

This night-shift position provides administrative and operational support to Veterans participating in THP, including after-hours client support and assistance with case management activities. The expected shift for this position is Wednesday . The end date for this project position is September 30th, 2029. This position is not eligible for telework.

Salary: $42,780–$55,596 annually
Schedule: Wednesday 10:00 PM to 9:30 AM & Thursday-Saturday 11:00 PM to 9:30 AM
Location: Orting, WA

Alert: Thurston County officials are warning residents about a fraudulent email scam demanding immediate payment.

Scammers posing as a County director are emailing permit customers fake invoices and demanding wire transfer payments.

Officials say that while the County permitting office accepts electronic fund transfers, it doesn’t demand wire transfers for permitting services. A wire transfer varies from an electronic transfer in that it usually requires an immediate, time-sensitive transaction that incurs a higher fee, and funds can’t be recalled, nor can the transaction be cancelled.

You can report anything that looks suspicious to the Thurston County Sheriff’s non-emergency line at 360-704-2740.

🇺🇸 Thank You, 504th Military Police Battalion-Dragon Fighters!

The LVSH would like to thank the 504th Military Police Battalion for the invitation to attend the Relinquishment of Responsibility and Retirement Ceremony held yesterday, 1 October 2026, at Dragon Fighter Field on JBLM.

It was a great ceremony and an honor to be there for such an important occasion. The Soldiers of the 504th MP Battalion looked incredibly professional and represented their unit and the U.S. Army with pride throughout the ceremony.
