Faithful readers, I was brutally attacked at the WSWPLA Championship at Sun Country. Well, Ok the people behind my group hit into us and I was struck. It hurt! I attempted to take a picture of my wound for your edification, but the angle was difficult to hold and press the button at the same time. Also, it was in an area of my body you might not be interested in seeing. Regardless, the group behind us contained someone from Capitol City, against whom we will be playing our "Solheim" competition. Intimidation? I will not flinch! Oh, you want to hear about the Championship?....

Well, they haven't posted the results yet, but I know that Carmela, Sandy, Mary Jo and Ann walked away with a specially engraved cheese board! More to come when they post the results and we can talk about $$$$. If I forgot anyone, let me know and I'll be sure to give you mention.

To all our faithful readers (Notice the royal "our"?), The results are in. We whipped butt! Well, some of us won a small return on our entry fee at The Home Course. Ann and her friend Ada won low gross in flight 2 with a 79! Diane and our HP friend Ellie won low gross in Flight 4, and Arlene and Shari won low gross in Flight 7. Regarding those of us for whom our high handicap is paying off - Pam and her partner Sophia won first low net in Flight 3, Sandy and Judi won 2nd low net in that flight, and Laurie and Lois brought up the rear winning 2nd low net in Flight 7. First place winners won $36 and 2nd place $26!!! All of that is well and good, but the BIG NEWS - Your humble narrator actually got on the Casino hole and my name was drawn out of the tens of people who got on the green, so I joined with the glorious ones who got "in the circle" to win $50 bucks!!! Ray...... Next up, the Publinks Championship in Cle Elum.

People, have you seen the line-up for the Home course two lady best ball? We have 8 teams vying for glory. Not only that, Karen has volunteered us for table sitting WITHOUT EVEN ASKING! Not only that, Lois and I start at 2:33pm! Last time I started this late at the Home Course it was dark before we finished and coyotes were howling on the hills around the eighteenth fairway. If you don’t hear from me, you’ll know where to look…..

In Flight 2, Ann shot 79! for low gross.Donna A won low net in Flt 7; Barb Killgore low net and Carmela 2nd low net in Flt 8; Arlene low net and Laurie 2nd low net in Flt 9. Also, overall we won more $ than even Capitol City. Laurie and Arlene have vowed to claw their way back into Flt 8. Watch out Barb and Carmela!

Judy R, Sigi, Lois, Laurie, Marybeth, Amy and their partners played in the Olympia Country and Golf Club Invitational June 17-18th. Congratulations to Marybeth and her partner JoAnne Olson who won low gross in Div. 3. That’s 17% of our entrants when you round it off! Also a winner was my hairdresser, Jodi Kanda (low gross in Div 2) for whom I have been donating to her membership at the OCGC for years. Hmmmm.

This is Sandy, plucking her ball from the 16th hole on the Links. She got there with one stroke! This is her second hole in one with us. I told her we should get her a plaque so we can just enter the date each time.

The WSWPLA held it's first tournament this year at the Home Course. More than 100 women braved the cold and wind to play Friday and Saturday. A second day was added to accommodate everyone who wanted to play. There was no weather advantage as we all played in the cold and winds in the 12 mph range. Lois and Laurie had a further disadvantage starting at 2:30 and finishing at 7:30, just after the sun went down. This definitely affected what I'm sure would have been stellar play. We did have some stellar play from other HP women. In Flight 1, Ann and Patty had second place, losing to two women, who judging by their score, should be on the professional circuit. Flight 4, Sandy and Judi missed placing by 1 measly stroke! In Flight 8, Amy and Diane won 37 bucks, winning the flight! Arlene and Shari won 3rd in Flight 10. Other combatants from HP included Donn A and Pam, Judy R and Carmela, Lois and Laurie, and special friends of HP, Marnie and Ellie. And, no, Ellie and Marnie were not partners, but I bet they would be fantastic! Here's hoping many more of us will become involved in this and TWGA events. On to our next shot at glory!

The lucky two at Bandon. Home to the snow. Reminiscent of the time a group of us were traveling back from Bandon when we got stranded by a snow storm on I5 with hundreds of others. We sat for at least 3 hours waiting for traffic to move. Someone (who shall remain nameless) in our car cried “We’re going to die out here” and started frantically searching for left over crackers from out trip. We did survive and stopped at a great deli in Portland to pick up some delicious sandwiches. Fun times.
