Hi Folks,
We’re excited to have a session this year of plastering a beautiful fresh mud coat on Owl Peak Studio’s beloved adobe home. We’d love to see your faces and hardworking hands.

We will have mud plastering expert Angela Francis helping lead the way.

Lunches will be provided and Saturday evening Mattson and Kyelle will be making Horno pizzas!

If you’d like to learn this traditional mud plastering from digging to smoothing walls, making adobe bricks, eating some good food, and having a good time, let us know if you’d like to join and come on over!

What a wonderful pottery class! So many stories and gratitude of this place shared as everyone was local or connected to this area. Thanks so much for all the laughs, tears, hard work, and beautiful pots!

I have been making lots of Pottery in the last months and really savoring time at Felipe’s Studio at Owl Peak Pottery Foundation. I am now back away for the summer but I am thinking of doing a showing of cookware in the fall! If any folks in Ca or NM might want to host something in November/December please keep in touch!

Greetings everyone,
The year is in full swing, cotton woods leaves are dancing, yellow warblers are coloring the sky, and clay is being made.
Here are a few photos from last year during the pottery classes and mudding day.
A special thanks to the Ortega family for all the support and making this all possible.

Felipe’s brother, and sister in-laws stumbled into a gallery in Taos and found this. A very unique and rare build by Felipe. I’m happy to say the piece will return home to its place of origination today.

Friends and Family anyone interested in buying a mug exchange for helping us out a little?
I am traveling to an old and special pottery village in Turkey called Gökeyüp. This and a few other villages which produce similar pottery are the heart of western Anatolian micaceous clay production. The site is recognized as part of a Geo Park by UNESCO and Lee and I are planning on writing, hiring a photographer and creating some real interesting cultural exchanges. The more I am learning about the site the more I am realizing this is a big opportunity! Having been working as Stagiare/kitchen apprentice/music student/traveler for the last 6 months am a little low on funds!
I am realizing this trip will need quite a bit of logistics, car rentals, professional photography, lodging etc.

In order to properly fund what could be a small piece of journalism on craftsmanship or culinary history, possible logistics for future tours of pottery in western Turkey, etc I will be pre selling some pottery in the hopes a few folks will help us out

Anyone interested in helping fund us?

I am looking for around 15 small contributors to help float this journey a little.

For a contribution of 100$ you will receive a large micaceous mug with writing and photography from the journey.

If you are interested in contributing more I could pre sell a few bean pots!

I will make this pottery when I return to New Mexico and can have it and the writing ready around march 2024.
