The story began about 7 years ago when I won a charity auction. The item was "not my thing", I really had no intention of winning it, but I did. I am a fan of Tom Becka's radio show and Tom does a lot of good work for the Salvation Army amongst others. I offered the shirt to Mr. Becka to use as a fund raiser which he accepted and did. Later that year tragedy struck some very dear friends of mine.
Knowing Tom (actually if you are a fan of Tom and his show, I am known as "Joe that hates Tom") I contacted him asking if he could make a contribution to the charity my friends have created out of their tragedy. It was not for them, it was BY them. Tom agreed and he gave me this signed magazine. The signature is that of Mr.Apolo Anton Ohno The gold medal winning speed skater, his picture is also on the cover...Leading! That was when the idea started bouncing around in my head. I had bought something and contributed to a charity. I gave it away and contributed to another charity. Tom gave the magazine to me and the chain was rolling. It happens all the time I am sure. There is more to the story though. The magazine was framed by 1200 Images and this led to another piece being contributed and that piece was framed by another shop that was more than willing to get involved, Fast Frames of Omaha. The original item I won many years ago brought that charity I think $200.00. After donating it to Mr. Becka I am not sure how well it did. I can tell you that the magazine and the other item together brought $700.00! AND all I had to do was mention my idea to the buyer of the magazine and without hesitation he handed it back to me! He has signed the back, and it is ready for your charity to use as a fund raiser! There is a stipulation though! The winner, draw for it, silent auction it, auction it, whatever you want. But the winner must agree to sign it and hand it back! We want to keep it as busy as possible! Am I crazy? Am I nuts? We are about to find out! We are not available for political fund raising. We are willing to make appearances at for profit events for a fee. All proceeds derived from appearance fees will be donated to the Macie Elizabeth Fund. We reserve the right to not participate in any event we do not want to participate in. Period. If you think you might be questionable, save yourself the trouble. If you are looking for a little publicity, thinking a denial will shine some sort of light for you, I say go for it! I'll simply deny I ever heard of you.
