La Veta Village Senior Assisted Living Community Help us bring quality, Senior Assisted Living to La Veta, Colorado La Veta Village, Inc. In 2018, we plan to open a Senior Assisted Living Community in La Veta.

is a non-profit organization ready to make a substantial investment in the future of the Town of La Veta. We are undertaking the complete renovation of The Old Cheese Factory, just east of Main Street. Our Board of Directors is in place and since our incorporation on October 19, 2015 we have been developing architectural plans for the rehabilitation of the building with local architect, Clyde Schroeder. Our primary source of funding for this project will be a 3.25% loan from the USDA Rural Development Agency. As part of our planning, we will be looking to local individuals and organizations to become part of our exciting future by encouraging community involvement and financial support. This support will be essential to delivering a broad range of amenities and services that will help senior residents thrive at La Veta Village.

Join Us At The La Veta Library
On Friday, May 5 at 2pm, we continue our "Living Your Life Well” monthly seminar series in collaboration with Friends of the La Veta Library. This month, we present:

"Advanced Directives - Who Needs Them"

Maybe you have them, maybe you have heard of them, maybe you have no idea what they are. Advance Directives are written, legal instructions regarding your preferences for medical care if you become, through an accident or illness, unable to make decisions for yourself.

These documents can be a helpful tool for any adult stage of life, not just the end stages. Helen Hill, R.N. and Massage Therapist who lives in La Veta. will take the mystery out of Advance Directives when she speaks at the La Veta Library on Friday, May 5, at 2pm.

Helen’s presentation will offer explanation, information, discussion and a look at a selection of actual Advance Directive documents.

Season's Greetings

We have a holiday bundle of great news to share with you!

Yes, we do have really good news at La Veta Village. Our Rural Development loan and Community Development Block Grant applications are submitted and we see construction in our 2017 future. We are now planning for the 2018 opening of our Senior Assisted Living Community in downtown La Veta offering a supportive home to seniors in the Spanish Peaks area who want to remain in our community. To date we have raised nearly $80,000 from the local community and we are on an ambitious path to raise a total of $150,000 over the next few months.

La Veta Village Building Plans
The 16-suite Senior Assisted Living Community, staffed by dedicated care providers will be an innovative renovation of the Old Cheese Factory building in La Veta — conveniently located within walking distance to town shopping, cultural events, and services. When complete, all resident and community spaces will be on the same level for the ease of individuals with disabilities. The exterior of the building will feature a covered terrace with comfortable outdoor seating offering residents early morning sunlight and Spanish Peaks views. The terrace awning will protect residents and visitors against harsh midday sun and also shade the terrace in the late afternoon making this area a very pleasant space to relax and enjoy. Currently there are no trees on the site. Our plans call for trees planted along East Francisco Street and shrubs will be planted along the building perimeter. Planting boxes will be incorporated into the outdoor terrace for residents to use and enjoy.
