Spanish Peaks Alliance for Wildfire Protection is excited to provide this training opportunity to Costilla County residents for *FREE* in partnership with the Colorado State Forest Service office and grant support from Live Wildfire Ready.

The class will cover a variety of topics to help homeowners better understand proper use of tools related to fire mitigation and project logistics on their property.

- Chainsaw Safety, Use, and PPE
- Slash Disposal Methods and Chipper Safety
- Mitigation Project Identification, Planning, and Organization

NOV 15 - FIELD DAY
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Location: Fort Garland, CO (NOTE: Address will be sent to registered participants separately to protect landowner privacy, please watch your email!)

SPAWP will provide some PPE and saws for participants, but homeowners are invited to bring their own equipment, especially if they have questions about maintenance and use.

Please dress for inclement weather and wear long sleeves and pants, close toed boots, and tie hair back.

The Huerfano County Community Wildfire Protection plan, written by The Ember Alliance in partnership with local stakeholders both public and private, is now available for public comment. Partners from across Huerfano County gathered to review the CWPP developed by TEA and local agencies and stakeholders from the municipal to the federal level.

The Community Wildfire Protection Plan evaluates regional risk and community values in the county and helps create priorities for treatment and emergency planning. TEA is grateful for all of the time and dedication to this process by all involved!

SPAWP is funding roadside mitigation on Cordova Pass for fire mitigation and forest health. The work will be completed by a crew from Mile High Youth Corps, which creates job training opportunities for future conservation and wildland fire professionals.
