Our big yard sale is in full swing. We’ll be here till 2 o’clock. We’ve got all kinds of stuff. There’s vendors with some cool crafts. We’ve got children’s stuff. We’ve got stuff to decorate your home. Stuff to cook with. Jewelry. Some tools. Cookbooks. Stuff for your cat. Swing on by. We’re at 337 Stones River Rd. Plus, we’ll have some fish sandwiches ready for you to get for lunch!

 we also have the electronics dumpster going on until noon. So bring your own broken electronics and drop them off.

We are having a BIG EVENT at the center TOMORROW! Swing by 337 Stones River Rd. Saturday morning between 7:00-12:00 to drop off your old, broken electronics in our Electronic Dump.

Then go to the other side of our parking lot to find something you might wat at our Yard Sale! We have a bunch of good stuff donated from cat food to home appliances to tools and decor - all earnings go to supporting the senior center activities.

There will also be some vendors selling their own crafts, jewelry, clothing, knick-knacks, treats, and even some food! The yard sale will go until 2:00pm

Yesterday, we did our STEAM project that combined science and art. We were supposed to be making watercolor paintings out of the pigment from flowers. It didn’t quite work. 🤷‍♀️ But we still had fun!

Then we had our second “after school” night, staying open until 7:00. Keith led a cooking class where they made mini-pizzas!

We had so much fun with Spirit Week. Monday was favorite music or artist day, Tuesday was Decade Day, Wednesday was favorite sports team day, and today was pajama day! Today was also the day to celebrate our October birthdays!

 We’ll be closed tomorrow because the staff has a training day. We’ll see you all on Monday. And remember, on Monday we will stay open till 7:00 PM.

FiftyForward La Vergne Senior Center will be hosting a big Yard Sale on Saturday, October 17th, from 8:00am-3:00pm. We are looking for local vendors who'd like to purchase a spot to put up a tent and sell your crafts, treats, books, or collectables. We have room for 15 tents.

A space is $20, and $5 extra if you'd like to use one of our tables. You keep all the profit from your own sales. Please swing by the center Monday through Friday next week between 8:30am-3:30pm to secure your spot (337 Stones River Rd.) Call with questions: (615) 793-4048.

If you don't want a booth, but you would like to donate some household items (no clothes, please) for us to sell as part of our fundraiser, you can start dropping off those items on Thursday, October 15th.

Congratulations to all of our Wii Bowlers! We handed out awards this morning. First Place Team went to The Fantastic Four (Keith, Tasha, Diane Haynes and Kathy Green). Our Top Individual Bowler was Bianca Shelton! We gave a special thank you to Gloria Williams for helping with all the scoring and record keeping.

Thanks to Kathi Melendy at Parks & Rec for the pretty certificates and Kristin Morelock for the T-Shirts. We’ll start up again in November!

Our first “After School” Monday went well! We had about a dozen members show up. We learned how to play Wheel of Fortune on the Wii, we danced to “We Go Together” from Grease, and we learned how to write the alphabet in calligraphy.

We have more fun stuff planned for next Monday!

Just as a reminder as you are all getting dressed and ready to come over and hang out with us all day, it’s Spirit Week! Today’s the is “Music Monday”. So wear a T-shirt with your favorite band or singer, or wear an outfit inspired by your favorite kind of music. Let’s see what all come up with.

Also, today is our first Monday that we will stay open all the way until 7:00 PM.  Feel free to come back and play more games with your friends. We’ll have the Wii turned on if you want to play a game on that, we have a musical theater dance class at 5:00, and a calligraphy class at 6:00.

Happy October! We had another super fun week. Our Care Management Team Member, Shelby, did a presentation on Advanced Care Planning and answered questions. We had our third art class with Jan Batts. Member Cindy Seimer also taught some fun painting techniques, and we had a very cool presentation about beekeeping by Erik Metzger. We stay busy!
