Happy Sunday, and Happy Convention Week! It's time to announce the submission deadlines for this year's Convention issues of the Volunteer Trumpet.

Please note two changes from previous years:

📅 September 1 – Added/Updated as a submission deadline to allow an issue to be completed and distributed prior to Fire Prevention Week.

📅 November 1 – Added/Updated as a submission deadline to ensure an issue can be produced and mailed before the holiday season.

We encourage all departments, associations, auxiliaries, and members to submit news, photos, awards, special events, milestones, and other accomplishments for publication.

2026 - 2027 Submission Deadlines:

• July 1, 2026
• September 1, 2026 (New/Updated)
• November 1, 2026 (New/Updated)
• February 1, 2027
• May 1, 2027

📣 Volunteer Trumpet Submission Deadline

The deadline for the next issue of the Volunteer Trumpet is September 1st!

If you have news, photos, events, accomplishments, or other content from your fire department or county association that you’d like to see included, please send it our way by September 1st.

The National Fire Academy is hosting a 2-day class, F0722 Health and Safety Program Manager in College Park, MD on September 21-22, 2026.
This 2-day course provides fire and emergency medical services department personnel and other related emergency responders with the aptitudes and abilities necessary to manage the duties and responsibilities of the Health and Safety Program Manager (HSPM) within their respective organizations.
Training is free for attendees.

If you're interested in receiving the issues via email, you're welcome to sign up below! We'll open the mailing list again soon. We're updating the lists now before each issue mailing! Again, note that copies take about 3-4 weeks to arrive from when we submit to print, and new addresses sometimes take a cycle or two to update.

We know that some of our readers prefer receiving the Volunteer Trumpet as an emailed PDF, while others enjoy a physical copy—or sometimes both. Copies of the latest Volunteer Trumpet have started arriving in mailboxes today! Since issues ship in batches, don't worry if yours hasn't arrived yet.

We've already heard a lot of great feedback, and we truly appreciate everyone who takes the time to read each issue. We're always looking for ways to make the publication even better. President's Brief III

Thank you to the LaVale Volunteer Rescue Squad for hosting today's Association meeting and to the 13 member departments that were represented.

We had a productive afternoon with updates on training, statewide initiatives, and several Association projects. We also approved a few important initiatives that will benefit our member departments and the communities we serve.
