Steven B. Robbins was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a cherished member of the Coachella Valley for nearly 30 years. He was born in Port Heuneme, and raised all over the world due to his fatherβs Navy career. He graduated Oxnard High Schools class of 1971, and graduated from UCLA in 1976 with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering. During his college years he was active in the Lambda Chi
Fraternity, enjoyed playing rugby, and was a lifelong lover of music and playing the guitar. Shortly after graduating college he moved to the Coachella Valley to take an engineering job at the Coachella Valley Water District. Years later he left CVWD to be partner in an engineering firm, Esco, later returning to CVWD where he worked his way up to being the General Manager/ Chief Engineer. He married his wife Karen in 1985, they welcomed their first daughter Ashley in 1986, Kristyn in 1989 and Kirklyn in 1995. Upon his death he had two grandsons Rhys, 5, and Brock, 6 days old. He now also has grandson Wyatt and two granddaughters Raegan, and Ellie. His family meant the world to him, and he and Rhys were best buddies. During the last ten years of his life he was faced with melanoma, colon cancer and ultimately succumbed to leukemia. Throughout life, and all of these struggles, Steve always had a smile on his face. Steve believed in bettering ones self, and getting as much education as possible. For this reason, we created the Steven B. Robbins Foundation. Our goal is to raise funds to provide college scholarships to Coachella Valley Students whose parents have fought cancer, to commend them for continuing to pursue an education despite the emotional and financial hardship that has been placed upon them and their family.
