The Community of Desert Shores will be conducting a Community Outreach conference on the topic of the Desert Shores Channel Restoration Project. This Conference will be conducted by Gafcon , ( Project Manager), and Nicklaus Engineering, who has been performing Geotechnical Soil Analysis in the Channels and Hydrology Studies to provide a water source for Channel Restoration.
This event will occur at the VFW in Desert Shores on Monday, October 13,2025 from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm and will be attended by Supervisor Ryan Kelley and Executive Director of the Salton Sea Authority, GPatrick ODowd as well as Gafcon and Nicklaus Engineering. This Conference will give us the final analysis as to the feasibility of the Desert Shores Channel Restoration Project and whether we can commence construction in the very near future.
All interested residents of the West Shores Community are invited to attend this Community Conference.

IMPORTANT MEETING!!!!!!!!!
Gafcon (Project Manager) for the Desert Shores Channel Restoration Project) will be holding their second and most important Community Outreach Meeting, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the VFW in Desert Shores at 6:00 pm. This meeting will be their final analysis of the important issues that the Community expressed at their first meeting on March , 19, 2024 also at the the VFW. At the first meeting the community expressed their firm desire to drill for a “well” to source adequate water to fill the Channels and keep them filled and build a berm in the boat channel to keep the water in the channels. The Community had their priorities well defined and kept Gafcon focused on the mission at hand. It is important to have as many members of the West Shores Community present at this meeting to show Gafcon, we have a unified Community and clearly defined goal to get this Project moving forward.
Please Mark Your Calandar for April 2, 2024 at 6:00 pm at the VFW as we need a large showing at this Community Outreach Meeting.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!!
An important Outreach Community Meeting is being sponsored by Gafcon, the new Project Manager for the Desert Shores Channel Restoration Project.
This meeting will be taking place this Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the VFW hall in Desert Shores starting at 6:00 pm.
Gafcon needs to see that the ENTIRE WEST SHORES COMMUNITY supports this Project. The Oversight Committee has been extensively involved in bringing this Project forward to its current state.
It is the Oversight’s strong recommendation that we all speak as one voice in recommending that the “well drilling” phase of the Desert Shores Project start immediately. This will ensure an adequate source of water for the Project and complete the hydrology component necessary to finish the mandatory State CEQA study being completed by Imperial County.
Completion of this Project will serve as a prototype for similar Projects that are possible at Riviera Keys Salton City, Pelican Keys, Bombay Beach, as well as other locations.
Let’s show Gafcon that we want this Desert Shores Project started IMMEDIATELY.
