May is Youth Service Month in Rotary… but in La Porte, we see it lived out all year long.

Through EarlyAct, our elementary and junior high students aren’t just learning about service—they’re leading it.

They’re organizing food drives for local families.

They’re raising money for children facing medical challenges.

They’re serving seniors, supporting their schools, and stepping up in ways that remind all of us what “Service Above Self” really looks like.

And here’s what’s most powerful… These aren’t just activities. They’re habits being formed. Character being shaped. A generation learning that they have something to give right now—not someday.

That’s what EarlyAct is about.
That’s what Rotary is about.

And that’s why Youth Service Month isn’t just something we celebrate… It’s something we’re building into the DNA of our kids every single week.

Grateful for our teachers, Rotary partners, volunteers, and students who make this possible.

The future is already showing up—and it looks pretty incredible.

Tonight was one of those nights that reminds us why this work matters.

Our EarlyAct 2026 Banquet brought together students, families, educators, and community leaders to celebrate something bigger than awards—service, leadership, and the impact our kids are already making right here in La Porte ISD.

Grateful for our guest speakers, Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia and LPISD Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson, for showing our students that leadership doesn’t start later in life—it starts now.

A huge thank you to Precinct2gether for going above and beyond—providing the space, dinner, and drinks and making this night possible in such a first-class way.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of La Porte for believing in this program and sponsoring all seven of our EarlyAct clubs. This kind of consistent support is what allows these students to grow and lead.

To our incredible Rotary volunteers Terri, Brenda, Frank, Susan, Rick, and Friend of Rotary Jenny - your presence, encouragement, and investment in these kids does not go unnoticed.

And to the teachers and administrators across our campuses—thank you for saying “yes” to one more thing, for supporting these clubs, and for helping shape students who are learning to serve others.

Tonight we celebrated campus achievements, recognized leaders, and honored our 4th-year EarlyAct students—but more than anything, we saw what’s possible when a community wraps around its kids.

The future is in good hands.

We were happy to present the 2026 “Souper Bowl” trophy to our Roadrunners at Jennie Reid Elementary today!

These kiddos led the pack in collecting canned food for our two local food pantries.

Combined with Bayshore Elementary, College Park, and La Porte Elementary, we were able to donate 550 cans of food!

Once again, our EarlyAct Clubs go above and beyond showing their service above self attitude!

Thank you to Rotary Club of La Porte President Nelson Rodriguez for being our guest today!

Our Jennie Reid Elementary EarlyAct Club volunteered at the MRC Affordable Housing today to plant a butterfly garden and help build butterfly feeders for the senior’s fundraiser!

We are very proud of these kiddos and sponsors and parents, giving up some of their precious Saturday to put service above self!

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and there’s no better place to see the power of volunteering than in our EarlyAct clubs.

What makes EarlyAct so special isn’t just the projects—it’s what students are learning through them.

They’re learning that:
Serving others matters.
Their actions can make a difference.
They don’t have to wait until they’re older to lead.

Whether it’s collecting food for local families, creating care packages, or serving our community in simple but meaningful ways—our students are discovering something powerful:

You’re never too young to make an impact.

And maybe even more importantly… they’re building a habit of service that can last a lifetime.

We’re so proud of these students, and we’re grateful for the teachers, sponsors, and community members who help guide them along the way.

Because when young people learn to serve early, it doesn’t just change today…

It shapes the future of our community.
