Rebuilding Together Charles County

Rebuilding Together Charles County A safe and healthy home for every person. Rebuilding Together Charles County hosts a National Rebuilding Day the last Saturday in April.

Rebuilding Together Charles County – formerly known as Christmas in April Charles County – is a volunteer organization founded in 1990 that, in partnership with the community, rehabilitates the houses of low-income homeowners, the elderly and disabled, so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and independence. More than 800 volunteers of all ages, faiths and walks of life come together

to help neighbors in the American barn-raising tradition. Now, as part of Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit committed to community building projects across the country through its 150 affiliates, Rebuilding Together Charles County looks forward to creating opportunities throughout the year to repair homes across Charles County.

We’re proud of the continued partnership between Lowe’s and Rebuilding Together through the Round Up for Charity program. When you shop in-store, you can choose to round your total up to the nearest dollar at checkout—and that small extra amount helps support Rebuilding Together’s mission of keeping neighbors safe in their homes and strengthening communities.

Those rounded-up donations help fuel home repair work and community revitalization efforts across the country—and they help power local affiliates like Rebuilding Together Charles County as we work to make homes safer, healthier, and more livable for the people who need it most.

Next time you’re at Lowe’s, consider rounding up. A little change can do a whole lot of good.

This winter and spring, giving back can be as simple as rounding up your purchase at the register. We’re excited to share that Rebuilding Together is once again partnering with Lowe’s for its Round Up for Charity campaign. Now through May 3, Lowe’s customers can round up their transactions to ...

MLK Day is a National Day of Service—a reminder that strengthening our community starts with serving our neighbors.

Today we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy by recommitting to the work that matters: helping neighbors live safely at home and building stronger communities, one project at a time.

Service doesn’t have to be big to be powerful.
A helping hand. A kind act. A commitment to community.

Let’s honor Dr. King the best way we can—by showing up for one another.

🎉 Happy New Year from Rebuilding Together Charles County! 🛠️❤️

As we close out 2025 and step boldly into 2026, we’re reflecting with gratitude and looking ahead with purpose. This past year, volunteers, donors, and community partners came together to make homes safer, stronger, and more livable for our neighbors.

In 2026, we remain committed to what matters most—preserving homeownership, strengthening neighborhoods, and showing up for Charles County families when it counts.

New year. Same mission. Stronger impact.

Today, we celebrate the power of community, compassion, and coming together to make a real difference right here at home.

Every repaired ramp, every safer step, every warmer home — it all starts with people like you who believe that our neighbors deserve to live in safe, healthy homes.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking our community to stand with us.
Whether you give $5 or $50, share our mission, or volunteer your time, your support creates real change for seniors and neighbors in need.

🏡 Strong communities aren’t built by accident — they’re built by people who care.

Thank you for caring. Thank you for giving. Thank you for helping us rebuild lives one home at a time.

✨ Day 3 at Summit 2025: Stronger Together! ✨

We’re closing out an inspiring Summit with so many powerful voices. Shareese Floyd from Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte reminded us that the homes we repair hold more than walls and windows — they hold histories, resilience, and hope. Tara Cruise, Director of Partnership Development, shared strategies to strengthen our funding pitches and expand outreach in our communities. And from the Community Housing Improvement Program, Seana O’Shaughnessy, President/CEO, and Chris Perry, Chief Development Officer, highlighted Rebuilding Together’s role in disaster recovery.

We also gained valuable insight from Becky Carter, Senior Director of Network Advancement, and Elizabeth Fries, Director of Network Advancement, who spoke about strengthening affiliate operations. They emphasized how formalizing policies and procedures improves decision-making, reduces risks, and creates consistent systems that set affiliates up for long-term success. Their practical guidance on building strong internal controls and decision-making frameworks will help us ensure Rebuilding Together Charles County remains sustainable and impactful.

Our President, Alvin Stewart, and our Treasurer, Sandie Branan, are proud to have represented Rebuilding Together Charles County during three days of learning, sharing, and connecting with affiliates across the country.

✨ As we conclude our experience at the Rebuilding Together 2025 Summit, we’re excited to bring back what we’ve learned to strengthen Rebuilding Together Charles County and continue our mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives right here at home.

✨ Day 2 at Summit 2025: Stronger Together! ✨

Today was filled with inspiration and new perspectives!

We began with an uplifting Opening Keynote from Erin Dawkins, Principal of EJD Consulting. With over 25 years of experience across the corporate and non-profit sectors, Erin shared how collaboration, cultural relevance, and purposeful storytelling can drive lasting impact for diverse communities.

We also heard from Heath Slawner, who shared insights from The Infinite Game. He reminded us that unlike sports with clear winners, business and life have no end point — success comes from adopting an infinite mindset, outlasting challenges, and creating lasting impact.

Our President, Alvin Stewart, and our Treasurer, Sandie Branan, continue to represent Rebuilding Together Charles County with pride as we learn, share, and build stronger connections with affiliates from across the country. 💙

✨ Why this matters for Charles County ✨

The lessons from today give us new tools to bring home. Erin’s focus on collaboration and purposeful storytelling helps us better connect with local partners and share the real impact of our work in Charles County. Heath’s reminder to think with an infinite mindset reinforces our commitment to building lasting change, strengthening families, and ensuring our community thrives for years to come.
