Happy 5th Anniversary, PILT!

First of all, we would love to give a huge shout-out to Ms. Struben, without whom there would be no PILT. Her support for PILT has been unwavering.

Former CEO Brayden founded PILT at the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic to assist individuals and families facing food and housing insecurity. At the time, Brayden was a PATH San Diego volunteer and noticed an urgent need, especially for hygiene products that PATH was struggling to meet.

Brayden had an idea: bring together like-minded students to get involved in the fight against food and housing insecurity. After meeting with her supervisor, Ms. Sigrid Struben, Associate Director of Philanthropy and Community Affairs, PILT was officially launched on August 20, 2021, with the motto:

“Community • Collaboration • Compassion.”

After becoming a California unincorporated nonprofit association in February 2023, Brayden expanded PILT’s reach to include unsheltered and foster youth and teens by partnering with organizations such as StandUp for Kids San Diego, the YMCA’s Housing Our Youth Collaborative, and TAY Support Services.

PILT continues to go from strength to strength thanks to Minori’s steady leadership. Thank you, Minori, for all the incredible work you have done for PILT as CEO. We truly appreciate your dedication, leadership, and commitment to our mission. You are amazing!

Lastly, thank you to PILT’s founder, Brayden, for all the incredible work you have done. Without you, PILT would not be what it is today. Your vision, dedication, and compassion created something that continues to make a difference in so many lives.

We’re incredibly grateful to have been able to support our veterans through a recent Chromebook donation. PILT was proud to donate these laptops to help veterans pursue employment opportunities, complete applications, and work toward their personal goals.

We recently received a beautiful message sharing how grateful the veterans were for the donation. One veteran even began completing a job application on their new Chromebook immediately after receiving it. Moments like this remind us why youth-led service and community support matter.

We’re so thankful to our partners for allowing PILT to be part of this effort and, most importantly, to the veterans who continue to inspire us through their strength, dedication, and perseverance. 🇺🇸💙

Welcome everyone to the 2026–2027 school year! We’re thrilled to be back and ready for another impactful year with PILT. As always, our mission remains strong: to support people experiencing homelessness in San Diego. Together, we’re continuing the work that matters, driven by compassion, action, and the power of youth leadership. This year, We’ll be launching new creative projects, building new partnerships, expanding our outreach, and creating even more opportunities for students to make a meaningful difference in their communities. Most importantly, we’re so excited to welcome our new members to PILT! We’re grateful to have you join us, and we can’t wait to see the ideas, passion, and leadership you bring to our organization. Whether you’ve been with us for years or you’re just getting started, you are an important part of what makes PILT special. 💚
