The Lorax Garden Club

The Lorax Garden Club This is a community organization in school dedicated to protecting the environment and reducing our impact on the environment.

A number of freshmen, sophomore, juniors, and seniors at the Preuss School UCSD make up the members in this club with teacher Eric Romer as the head leader. Members of the Garden Club plant and maintain succulents and other drought-resistant plants in our school to help beautify the school and prevent soil-erosion as well as gain experience in gardening. In addition, using succulents in place of

water-hungry foreign plants, we help reduce the amount of water used. The Lorax Garden Club also focuses on composting to create organic fertilizer to help recycle otherwise wasted foods and reduce the impact we make on the earth because no pesticides are used. Additionally, we plan to experiment with different methods of composting in order to ascertain the most efficient method and allow the Preuss School UCSD to become more environmentally sustainable.
