Feb. 27 Friday morning at Casa Beach It was pretty calm at the Children's Pool this morning. A low tide meant most of the Harbor seals were out in the water. Some moms and their pups were on the sand and others were returning to the beach to nurse and rest. Quite a few moms had their pups out on the rocks past the seawall. One determined mom wanted her resistant pup to climb onto the rocks. I watched them for awhile and finally the mom actually pushed her pup up onto the rocks. The pup looked proud. The mom looked tired.
Nearby there was a line of what looked like young male seals, relaxing on the warm rocks. There was a very pregnant seal resting patiently nearby. Next to her was a less patient mom-to-be who seemed very uncomfortable as she, too waited for her pup to arrive.

Feb. 23 Vacation is always fun, but it was good to get back to the beach today. It was a nice day - no wind, no rain, just a beautiful day with many healthy newborns arriving in our harbor seal colony. Here are a few pictures... Have a happy week everyone! ~Pam

Feb. 2 High tide brought High waves today and the seals on Casa Beach moved high up on the sand. The crashing waves did not stop the seals from their usual business as 2 pups were born this morning making a total of 5 births so far this season. Papaya arrived about 9:30 am and next to arrive was Lemon. Both seem to be happy, healthy newborns. Moms got busy nursing them and both young seals went for a swim with their moms soon after birth. Welcome little ones!!

Jan. 26, 2026 Happy Monday! I went to Casa Beach this morning looking for newborn pups. There were no new births.
I entered the beach area with a view through a cactus frame. And then I saw our relaxing Harbor seals. There have been only 2 births so far, and today I could only find 1. Persimmon, our first born, was there but there was no mom seal around. Persimmon looks chubby and healthy so the mom must come and go. It was a very low tide and the seals on the rocks and sand all found their individual ways of relaxing. In no particular order... here are some pics of our seals. Enjoy! ~Pam

Jan. 16 A beautiful day at Casa Beach today. Just a small and peaceful group of harbor seals resting on the sand. It won't be long until the beach is not so peaceful when many newborn seal pups arrive! Have a pleasant, peaceful 3-day weekend as we recognize Dr. Martin Luther King. Maybe take a visit to see the seals! ~Pam

January 4, 2026 I went to the beach this morning to see the King Tides and check out the Harbor seals. The beach is closed for the birthing season but here are some pictures of the many beautiful pregnant seals. ~Pam
