On the evening of June 17th, 2026 many lives changed in and around Effingham County in Southern Illinois. An EF-3 Tornado peaked at wind speeds of 150 mph and traveled 26 miles along a 500 yard path of destruction.

This year’s ONE FAMILY ONE PURPOSE Disaster Relief build will be in Teutopolis,
IL. We have committed our efforts to rebuilding a home for Teutoplois resident, Justin & his 8 year old son, Camden.

Please pray for our fundraising and labor efforts as we seek to share the redeeming message of Jesus to this family and community. More information regarding ways you can get involved in this effort in the coming days and weeks. We sincerely thank you for your prayers, and look forward to serving with you later this year!

It’s hard to say goodbye, but we know that we’re leaving with our hands empty of the seeds that were planted in Poplar Bluff, and our hearts full of joy from serving this family in the name of Jesus. Thank you to everyone who played a roll, whether you prayed, donated, labored, or shared the story of Gods work through volunteer homebuilders. Most of all, we thank Jesus—the One who brings true restoration.

You may be wondering why we haven’t shown the inside of the home for a couple days. It’s because we’re waiting for the big reveal! The Brunelle’s are locked out until they get to walk through tomorrow at the dedication! No peaking through those windows tonight, Jon and Carolyn! We’ll be handing over the keys to their beautiful new home tomorrow at 10am. We look forward to sharing photos of the completed house tomorrow! It’s always bitter-sweet to drive away with the family in the rear view mirror, but we know the message of what sent us here will stay in the hearts and minds of this family for years. Each time they enter this home, we hope they’ll remember the redemption made possible by our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Why’d He choose a carpenter? 2000 years ago, an Angel came to Mary, the fiance of a carpenter to birth and raise the Savior of the world. Imagine the doubts in that carpenter’s mind. Why did He choose us? How do we raise the King of all kings?

Two millennia later, God is still using unlikely carpenters to introduce people to Jesus. These modern-day carpenters, at times, feel unprepared for the task at hand—not for the carpentry itself, but for being worthy of the work of the Lord.

God loves to use the carpenters, the shepherds, the fishermen, and the tax collectors. These are the people who often shine the brightest for Jesus, because the light comes from a Spirit which resides in them, and not from man himself.

A light is shining brightly tonight in Poplar Bluff, MO, not because of a group of carpenters, but because the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords has once again chosen to use a carpenter.

This picture is special to those of us who have been around with OFOP for awhile. Jared and Jesse are both past home recipients (Jesse several years ago and Jared just last year). The Lord called us to serve them, and now the Lord has called them to serve others through these projects. It’s really a similar story to the rest of the volunteers. Jesus found us where we were, and completely transformed our lives. Now we serve others out of appreciation for our Savior. This is the real story of One Family One Purpose. It all points to Jesus.
