Good cool wet morning everyone!

The Moravia Show is where we collect our raffle prizes. Since the show was canceled, we still need to collect those prizes to make the raffle successful and fund our club events. If you have donated in the past, please consider donating again. New donors are welcomed!!
You can send your donations to Timothy Kleihege or Valerie Prause. We need confirmations of prizes by May 13th. Emails or calls will work too so that we can get the tickets printed in time to hand out at the June 5th meeting. Prizes can then be brought to that meeting or mailed.

The Moravia Show has been CANCELLED for tomorrow, May 2. There would not be any place to park trailers or equipment. Water is now over the road at the Navidad River on FM 957 south of Schulenburg, and in some other places so early morning travel would also not be safe.

Conditions should improve over night and through the morning hours. The 30th anniversary celebration will continue with the bands starting at 1:30P and delicious hamburgers served. Come out to visit if you can and celebrate the rain and Henrietta’s 30th anniversary of opening the Store. Just be safe when traveling!

We’re monitoring the rain. We will give an official update for tomorrow’s show in Moravia this evening.

A few members attended the first Trade Show and Blacksmithing Competition at Pioneer Farms in Austin today. The grounds are awesome with the original homesite still intact and so many buildings added to tell the story of early Texas settlements from Texas’ independence through European settlers and the late 1800s. Here’s some pictures but they really don’t do it justice.
Several of the blacksmiths that help put on the demonstrations at our TCHCC shows were there working away as usual. Shout out to Balcones Forge for all they do! Also attending were the Austin Wood Turners Guild, Two Bear Mint coin minting, leather stamping, and an antique clock collection. It’s well worth the time to visit but bring your walking shoes, the grounds are huge!
They plan to make it an annual event, the last weekend in April, and are inviting anyone to come exhibit…tractors, engines, and all antique farm equipment welcomed!

If you’re looking for something to do since it’s wet this Saturday, head out to Pioneer Farms. They are welcoming tractors and engines for display!
Some of these groups come to La Grange and help out at our events, the blacksmith and engine show in particular. Let’s return the favor!

Obituary for Dierre Smith.

Dierre C. Smith passed away on April 2, 2026 in Fredericksburg, TX at the age of 82 years. He was born Oct. 8, 1943 in the King Daughter Hospital in Temple, TX to Morris and Lee Pearl Smith. Dierre was raised in Bell County, south of Killeen on the Lampasas
