Award winning CVQG member Anita Todd will share her tips for working smarter-not harder- when machine quilting your quilts on a domestic sewing machine.
Anita will have a display of her work and lead a discussion filled with helpful ideas to get your quilts Show-ready. If you've seen Anita's quilts, you already know what beautiful work she do, so this is a program you won't want to miss!
Machine quilting can be both challenging and rewarding. We hope you'll leave with anew appreciation for this type of quilting and perhaps be inspired to give it a try, learn something new, and step outside your comfort zone!

Is your quilting area a little(or a lot) messy or disorganized? Join us at 6PM this coming Tuesday when we host Dr.Barb Shrout as she presents her program, "Divest, De-stress, and De-clutter: A Scared Straight Program for Quilters".
Dr. Shrout is both a retired Air Force master Sargeant and a retired Texas high school administrator. She has been accumulating fabric, quilting tools, patterns, books, and gadgets since 1990. Join her for an entertaining motivational program as she talks about our quilting equipment, things, junk, well you get the idea.....
Hopefully, you'll be scared straight into your sewing room where, armed with some practical advice and helpful hints, you can throw caution to the wind and embrace a new life of minimalism and materialistic apathy. Just kidding, but you might just develop a new appreciation for negative space.

Michelle Watts did a wonderful program on Wearable Art at our meeting last night. She started with her earliest projects, done in her early teens, and continued following more recent projects. Truly amazing.

Michelle Watts, from New Braunfels, will present a trunk show and lecture titled "My Wearable Art Collection". Michelle's pieced, applique, embroidered quilts and wearable art are inspired by the beauty of the southwest. She has been quilting and designing for 38+ years and will give us a look into her history of creating one of a kind garments.
Michelle designs southwestern quilt and wearable art patterns, southwest fabrics, teaches classes, and lectures throughout the U.S. She is also the author of 3 quilting books.
Don't miss out on this presentation on July 28, 2026 at 10am. Guests are welcome but must join after three visits.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 6pm, author Janet Shawgo from Galveston, will be our presenter. Her most recent book, My Sister's Quilt, contains 8 short stories that explore how quilts can hold the history of a family - marking special moments, honoring loved ones, and preserving traditions that might otherwise be forgotten. Each quilt tells a story and, through her writing, she shares how those stories connect generations.
Janet will share the inspiration behind the book, the roles quilts have played in her own family, and how quilting can become a meaningful way to document and celebrate family history.

Our next meeting is April 28th at 6:00. Our presenter will be Lisa Hart who will talk about ice dyeing fabric.
Lisa says " I have been a quilter for 25 years and began dyeing fabric and clothing 20 years ago ".
Join us on Tuesday to learn more about this intriguing technique.
