Across our eight counties, we know that a job isn’t just a paycheck, it’s the foundation for a good life. That is why we focus heavily on creating hands-on opportunities that connect local talent with local employers. Whether we are helping a 16-year-old land their very first paid summer internship, supporting a worker transitioning into a high-demand healthcare career, or helping a small business offset the costs of training a new hire, our goal is to make growth simple and accessible.

EOWB has funded another round of work with the Northwest Youth Corps to provide work experience in natural resources for our local jobseekers. They’ll get a lot of certificates, hands on experience with powered tools like chainsaws, and of course be paid to camp.

We’re hiring!

Wallowa Land Trust is looking for a Development Manager to join our team.

Here’s the important part: you don’t need to come to us with a career in nonprofit fundraising.

We’re looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, highly organized, curious, strategic, comfortable with people and technology, and able to turn ideas into action. Fundraising experience is certainly welcome—but we’re equally interested in someone with strong transferable skills and the capacity and desire to learn.

And we mean that. Wallowa Land Trust has dedicated significant resources to training, mentorship, and professional development for this position. We are prepared to invest in the right person.

This is a full-time (36 hours/week), permanent position based in our Enterprise office, with a salary of $50,000–$55,000 plus health, dental, vision, retirement, vacation, and other benefits.

On Friday some of our staff got to watch the Baker Valley Soil and Water Conservation District and Powder Basin Watershed Council interns present on their summer internships. Not all interns in our Eastern Oregon WORKS internship program have presentations, so it's exciting when we get to learn more about their experience!

Here we have Stella, who showed such passion for natural resources and insects during the presentation. It is rewarding to see interns get to experience something that fuels their passion(s) just as it is rewarding to see small businesses supported through this program.

This is also a great example of funding coming together. We had GO STEM provide funding for interns such as for the irrigation districts. EOWB has been able to sustain the EO WORKS internships for five years with various funding. And we had the irrigation districts to Supervise and support the interns throughout the Summer. Great things can happen with collaboration! We now look forward to expanding our summer program into a year-round internship program to provide more experiences like Stella's.
