MEMORIES FROM THE SCHOOLHOUSE IN LA FARGE

LHS History and Building Walkthrough Video Documentary Project

The purpose of the MEMORIES FROM THE SCHOOLHOUSE IN LA FARGE project is to create a narrated LHS History and Building video walkthrough of the La Farge schools – high, middle, and elementary with the focus on the high school – as of the current time in 2021 before the next round of referendum construction begins. This video documentary should be very detailed, expansive, and comprehensive in order to serve as both a portion of a virtual LHS All School Reunion in 2021 or 2022 and as a general historical document to serve generations to come. Nothing anywhere near this detailed and comprehensive re LHS currently exists. The project can be thought of as a time capsule easily accessed and subsequently added to as the future becomes history.

Details – The MEMORIES FROM THE SCHOOLHOUSE IN LA FARGE documentary will include all rooms in school with verbal and/or written commentary on each. Various shots of the school grounds and exterior of the buildings also. Individual focus on items such as each trophy, other trophy case items, recognition plaques on walls, banners in gymnasium, class pictures and other items in the alumni room, etc. Walking narration to follow the camera and vice versa with transcription to follow. Local historians Brad Steinmetz and Kevin Alderson are supporters of the project as is the LF School District administration.

Add-ins to walkthrough will include copies/excerpts of old yearbooks, historical photos of the school with written/verbal commentary, photos and history of some of the rural schools, and any other items of interest consistent with the theme of the project.

Ideally, Phase 1 will include the school as it is now to be followed by a post-referendum construction Phase 2 addendum. Future addendums could also be added as the future becomes history to keep the project current and relevant to all.

Summary – Big project. Ambitious goals. Hard work. Tight timeline under somewhat adverse conditions. No real money at this time to fund it yet. But what the heck, think of the potential rewards! Your help is needed in order to fund the project! It won’t be cheap – we’re trying to raise at least $6,000. Be a part of keeping the history of LHS alive and vibrant for all of us and for future generations.

Be sure to check out the website also... we won't be able to have a physical reunion this year due to the pandemic so we're hoping to put together a dynamic video walkthrough of the school and its history, etc.
