And Our Final Pitch for our event on May 13 comes from What I Need Now and Driftless Recovery Services.

They want to continue hosting a monthly "More than a Meal" event that includes a meal, games, free haircuts, foot care, hospitality, and community. They strive to foster communication and understanding between our unsheltered and marginalized neighbors, people in the recovery community, and the larger community. They plan to offer 'More than a Meal" at least monthly on the last Wednesday of each month, possibly twice a month.

The money raised will be used for food to prepare meals, soda, paper plates, utensils, and rental of a park shelter or community space. Goal: $3000.

Pitch 3 is from La Crosse Links!

La Crosse Links is a free, 5-session program designed to help newcomers build connections and a sense of belonging by learning about our region’s history, recreation, and more. Through themed sessions with partners, it introduces resources and opportunities that help them feel rooted in the community. It’s hard to get involved when moving to a new place - the aim is to host a welcome party that benefits everyone (and we have seen it work!). They want to empower stories to help people thrive in our community. They have had three cohorts so far: Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Fall 2025. After securing funding, they are hoping to host another cohort in the fall of 2026, around October 5 - November 5, 2026

Our second pitch comes from River City Youth Hockey Association - La Crosse Flames

They are seeking to buy 10 new mite (8U) gear sets so every skater continues to have safe, reliable equipment. RCYH ensures all youth can participate regardless of socioeconomic circumstances. Many of their young skaters rely on RCYH-provided gear and scholarships to play, and at least 10 sets must be replaced each season. Safe, quality gear supports a fun and encouraging environment. They will purchase the gear over the summer and distribute it in early October when the 2026-27 season opens. They are asking $2,600 for these sets.

Each set includes:
• Bag — $40
• Helmet w/ cage — $45
• Pants — $60
• Shins — $40
• Elbows — $30
• Shoulder pads — $45

Get ready for next week!

Our first pitch (in no particular order) is from Everybody Bikes

EB provides bicycle equipment to the under-resourced in our community who need it to meet their transportation needs. The need is great, and they would like to do more to meet transportation needs for more people in La Crosse. Their efforts are ongoing. They run classes weekly throughout the bicycling season. 99% of the funds go directly into repairing donated bicycles with replacement parts. They put new tubes in each tire to help avoid flats. Lights for drivers on 3rd shift jobs. A rack to carry items. High-security lock systems to protect from theft. They are seeking $1200.
