🚨 LA CROSSE, WE ARE MAKING NATIONAL WAVES! 🚨
I am beyond excited to share the latest National Leaderboard stats for the Walk to Defeat ALS, and our local community is absolutely dominating! 💥
Here is what our incredible La Crosse family has achieved so far:
🏆 #1 Top Participant IN THE NATION: A massive shoutout to Angela Newman, who is currently ranked #1 on the Top Participants leaderboard! She has raised an incredible $35,112.01 for the La Crosse Walk.
🥈 #2 Top Team IN THE NATION: Team “Newmi’s Shrooms” is holding strong as the #2 team on the national leaderboard! They have raised $35,377.92 for the La Crosse Walk.
📈 #11 Top Walk IN THE NATION: Our very own Walk to Defeat ALS La Crosse is ranked 11th nationwide! We have currently raised a total of $51,992.40.
This is proof of just how powerful, generous, and dedicated the Coulee Region is when we come together to support our ALS family. Let’s keep this incredible momentum going!

🚨 ROOM CHANGE NOTICE! 🚨
We are so looking forward to seeing everyone at our ALS Mingle this week!
Just a quick heads-up before you head out: for the summer months, we will be moving our meetings to the Diermeier Room at The Dash Center.
This room change goes into effect starting with our gathering this month! Everything else remains exactly the same for our wonderful afternoon together.

✨ This Week! Join us for a very special ALS Mingle ✨

Our next gathering is coming up this Thursday, June 4th, and it is one you won't want to miss.

We are so honored to have two wonderful guest speakers joining us: Dr. Larry Skendzel and Mandi Pericak (Clinical Operations Director at Emplify Health). They will be leading a gentle, compassionate conversation centered around "How to Show Love." 💙

Navigating ALS is a profound journey, and we’ll be discussing how tools like palliative care, hospice, social services, and advance care planning can help ensure comfort, dignity, and peace of mind for our loved ones.

Please know: This is NOT a rigid medical lecture! We are keeping our usual warm, relaxed, and conversational environment. It is simply a safe space to ask questions, gather resources, share thoughts, and be together.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the loss of a beautiful soul in our local ALS family. Yesterday, we lost our dear friend, Meg Theiler.

Meg was a familiar and deeply loved face at our monthly ALS Mingles. Every time she joined us, she brought an abundance of humor, joy, and light that brightened the entire room. Her presence was a true gift, and our gatherings will not be the same without her vibrant energy.

Meg was a talented flower breeder, bringing the same beauty and color into the world that she brought into our community. In the touching words of her husband, Bart, “Meg is now in her endless field of flowers with her dog Harvey.”

Our deepest condolences go out to Bart, her family, and everyone who had the privilege of loving her. We will carry Meg’s joyful spirit with us always, and we will keep fighting in her honor.
Rest in peace, Meg. 🌻💙

Today’s ALS Mingle was an absolute blast! 💙✨
We decided to play a guessing game where everyone wrote down an interesting fact about themselves, and the rest of the group had to guess who it belonged to. Let’s just say we learned a LOT about our amazing community today!
From a confession about dancing on stoves at college parties 💃🔥 to someone who used to get paid $0.50 a tail for gopher hunting 🐿️🪙, the room was filled with so much joy and laughter. It was incredibly special to just sit back, take a mental break, and get to know each other on a deeper, more human level.
If you haven’t made it to an ALS Mingle yet, we would absolutely love to see you at the next one. Whether you are living with ALS, a caregiver, or honoring a loved one, you are welcome here. You truly never know what we might be up to next! 😉
