On behalf of Black Leaders Acquiring Collective Knowledge and Board of Directors, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Schuelke and Davis families on the loss of Rashied.
Today, we sit with profound pain and grief alongside his family, friends, and all those impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy. As we sit with the pain of this loss to gun violence, many of us are left asking: How could this happen? While we may not have all the answers, we know that this serves as a profound reminder of the challenges facing our young people and the responsibility we share as a community to support, protect, and uplift them.
We encourage everyone to take a moment to connect with their loved ones, especially the young people in their lives, and check on their well-being.
In the days ahead, we encourage everyone to seek support from family, friends, mentors, counselors, and trusted community members. A young life has been lost, and a family is carrying an unimaginable burden. We hold Rashied's loved ones close in our hearts and offer our deepest care, compassion, and support.
We also ask our community to extend grace and support to all who are grieving. This is not the responsibility of one neighborhood, one family, or one community group alone. It is a challenge that touches us all. Let us come together in accountability, healing, and action, working collectively to address the root causes of violence and create a safer, more hopeful future for our young people.
