At the University of Tennessee, all eyes are on rescue bluetick coonhound, Neyland. The pup is the 12th dog to take on the role of UTK’s beloved mascot, Smokey! NBC’s Priscilla Thompson shares an inside look at Neyland’s journey to becoming game day-ready.

Meet Beauford – The Adoptable Hound of the Week

Beauford is a stunning approximately 2 year old hound mix who weighs 57 lbs. Beauford is a friendly dog who loves life and he's got the energy to prove it! He is neutered, micro-chipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations.

Beauford has never met a treat he said no to and he loves people. He can be selective with the dogs that he likes so it's a good idea, if you have another dog to come on in for a meet and greet and let's see how everyone gets along.

Beauford is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico and is under the care of Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society. Please contact the rescue for further information

Meet Daltyn – The Adoptable Hound of the Week

Daltyn is Mr. Congeniality. Always up for a fun adventure, he gets along well with adults, kids and other dogs. Daltyn is approximately 4.5 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He was treated for heartworms and is neutered.

Daltyn loves to run and swim in the pool. He would make someone a fun, entertaining, genuine friend. His enthusiasm is infectious. Daltyn has been with the SPCA almost 2 years through no fault of his own. This handsome gentleman is a true soul, and would give someone such happiness...joy, and love.

This weekend we wrapped up submissions for our calendar for next year. While we have some excellent candidates, I'm concerned that not all submissions have gotten to us. The number of entries this year is far below past years, plus we know of at least one person who submitted two photos "successfully" that never arrived in our inbox. We do NOT want to miss anyone who submitted a photo, so I'm requesting that everyone who submitted please drop me a note at [email protected], or on Facebook Messenger. All you need to write is: "I submitted". I'll then check to make sure we really received your photos.
