Meet The Stryker Snack Break 🍦This year’s Maroon Tunes ice cream flavor from The Pearl!

This sweet and salty creation features vanilla ice cream with swirls of honey, oatmeal cookie crumble and crushed chocolate-covered pretzels.

Be among the first to try it at Maroon Tunes on September 10 starting at 5:30 p.m. Following the event, The Stryker Snack Break will also be available at The Pearl while supplies last.

The UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation will be forever grateful for all the ways Bob has enriched UWL and our La Crosse community.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Hetzel, Vice Chancellor Emeritus for Administration & Finance, an individual who left an indelible mark on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Bob dedicated 17 years of exemplary service to UWL before his retirement in 2024. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping the university as we know it today, providing visionary leadership, sound financial stewardship and an unwavering commitment to student success. More than that, Bob was a remarkable person who truly loved UWL and cared about this community. He will be deeply missed. 🤍

Alumni Spotlight: Nicholas Schueller (’10)

Congratulations to UWL alumnus Nicholas Schueller on being named a 2026 Herb Kohl Foundation Teacher Fellow!

Nicholas, who earned his master’s in Education and Professional Development from UWL, is a social studies teacher in the Mequon-Thiensville School District. The Herb Kohl Foundation Teacher Fellowship recognizes outstanding Wisconsin educators who demonstrate excellence and innovation in the classroom.

As a 2026 Teacher Fellow, Nicholas will receive a $6,000 award, while his school will receive a matching $6,000 grant to support learning opportunities for students.

Congratulations, Nicholas! We’re proud to see the impact you’re making in Wisconsin classrooms. 🦅

Now, her exceptional service and lasting impact have been recognized with UWL's 2026 University Staff Excellence Award.
