2026 Day on the Farm

On Tuesday, October 6th, the La Crosse FFA chapter and Rush County Farm Bureau Association hosted the La Crosse and Otis Bison Elementary for our annual Day on the Farm.

A huge thank you to those who decided to spend their morning with 215 elementary students!

A huge thank you to those who decided to spend their morning with 215 elementary students!

The kids had a full and fun schedule with 8 different learning stations:

🌽 Candi Hemel with Farm Bureau presented about seed germination
🚜 Chase Regehr with BTI presented about Tractor and Baler Safety
⛑ Lacey Noterman with Walnut Creek Extension District presented about ATV safety
🌾 Cammie Vaupel with American Plains Coop Presented about Grains and their uses
🐄 Dr. Aaron and Dr. Nikki with Cache Creek Vet services presented about Ruminants and their 4 chambers of the stomach
🪴 Stephanie Royer with the NRCS and Jeremiah Hobbs with Wet Walnut Creek watershed district
🌽 Maggie Showalter and Riley Larson presented about the corn plant and its parts
👩🏻‍🌾 Wyatt Oborny and Jadyn Petersilie led the kids in a fun game of “Farmer says”

Southwest District Land/Homesite

On Wednesday, September 23rd , LaCrosse FFA traveled to Syracuse to compete in the Southwest District Land Judging and Homesite evaluation competition.

Land judging requires students to evaluate soil texture, erosion, slope, permeability rate, and surface runoff to make a recommendation on what to do with the land.

Members who competed in Land judging were Wyatt Oborny, Kolton Appel, Jon Hayes, Cade Holopirek, and Jack McGaughey

🏅Wyatt placed 5th
🏅Jack placed 13th
🏆The team of Jack, Cade, Jon, and Kolton placed 8th.

Homesite has competitors evaluate the texture, slope, and water table to determine risk levels of building a foundation, lawns and landscaping, sewage lagoon, and septic systems.

🏅Cordell Oborny completed the homesite evaluation and placed 11th!
