Rebecca, our very own director at The Nature Place, shares about her experience at our most recent Biolitz event in her latest blog post.

A walk in the marsh, listening and looking at various bird species, led to further curiosity, connection to nature, and inspiration to learn.

From listening closely in the marsh to contributing observations through iNaturalist, the BioBlitz became a reminder that caring for nature doesn’t require being an expert—it just requires showing up.

Our next BioBlitz event is on June 20th focused on the precious prairies of the driftless region🌾

Our California King Snake had a full shed last night! 🐍✨

Snakes periodically shed the outer layer of their skin to make room for growth, heal minor injuries, and help remove parasites. A healthy shed usually comes off in one complete piece, which is a great sign that humidity, hydration, and overall health are right where they should be!

Visit the Discovery Room during our public open hours to meet all our critters and learn more about the amazing adaptations that help them thrive.
