A personal letter from Joe Katchever - Founder of Sprout For Kids Foundation / Found of Pearl Street Brewery
The service industry has been devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This includes a lot of my friends in the bar and restaurant business, who are shut down. Many of you have tried the curb-side service and, while it helps some, others are unable to make it work. Regardless, business has ground to a halt for on-premise businesses. Lots of bars and restaurants are staying positive and using this time to do some in-house renovations while we all sit and wait for the government to help us out.
As a business owner myself, I know that while our employees can file for unemployment, business owners do not qualify. Like many of you, I have sacrificed for my business before and I am doing so again. While payroll expenses are way down, insurance, taxes, utilities and other fixed costs remain to be paid.
I founded this brewery 21 years ago and I’ve seen lots of ups and downs, but this takes the cake! I have never relied on anyone, including the government for anything for my business. Tami and I have rolled up our sleeves and built our own success year after year. But this time our hands are tied. I’ve decided not to worry. I know that if my customers survive, Pearl Street Brewery will survive, too. Many bars and restaurants will be devastated to the point where closing the doors permanently will be a very real consideration. We’re here to offer help any way we can.
I’m happy to announce we have created the La Crosse Bar & Restaurant Relief Fund! This fund, set up a fund through the non-profit Sprout for Kids Foundation to raise money that will go directly to our bar and restaurant owners. We have set up a Paypal account so it’s easy for people to make contributions and we have a page dedicated to spreading the word. You can help by sharing our page thttps://www.facebook.com/pg/lacrossebarandrestaurantrelieffund and liking, sharing and making comments. If you have a customer email list, you can forward this email to them and ask them to help spread the word. The more exposure we get, the more money will be raised. We hope we can arouse the interest of corporate sponsors who are interested in the ongoing success of La Crosse area on-premise businesses. If you have any connections, ask them to contribute today. It’s great PR for their businesses, too!
Grants will be created with the funds with an application process. Our goal is to raise $500,000. Then create as many grants as we can. The biggest objective is to reduce the restrictions of what the funds can be used for. This fund is supported by The Sprout For Kids Foundation, a 501C3-Non Profit. Donations are tax deductible.
Thank you for all of your past and future support of Pearl Street Brewery and liking, sharing and making comments.
