FEATURED PERFORMERS – KIVAJAT & KUPARIELIET DANCERS
The 2026 Aura Jamboree is proud to welcome the internationally acclaimed Kivajat and Kuparieliet Dancers from Michigan's Copper Country!
Presented through the Finnish American Heritage Center and Finlandia Foundation National, the Kivajat Finnish-American Folk Dance program has been preserving and sharing Finnish folk dance traditions since 2004. What began as a dream to showcase Finnish-American youth culture has grown into one of North America's most recognized Finnish folk dance programs.
Today, nearly 50 dancers ages 5 to 17 participate in the Kivajat program, learning traditional Finnish dances, music, culture, and costume-making while building lifelong friendships and community connections. The dancers perform throughout the Upper Midwest, Canada, and Finland, serving as cultural ambassadors for Finnish heritage.
Audiences will enjoy colorful traditional Finnish costumes, energetic folk dances, lively music, and opportunities for audience participation. As longtime instructor Kay Seppala says, "Folk dancing is the dance of the people.”
