Kutztown Area Toastmasters meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:15-7:15 pm online via Zoom. 1st Wednesday of the month is a hybrid meeting at the Kutztown Community Partnership; plus a Zoom option. Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our membership is comprised of students, staff, faculty, area professionals and community members.

Members share the same goal: to improve their speaking and leadership skills. Membership in Toastmasters is one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself. A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants improve speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success. Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to timekeeping, grammar and parliamentary procedure. Members learn communication skills by working in the Pathways Program- an interactive self paced online program. Members also learn leadership skills by taking on various meeting roles. In our learn-by-doing approach, we don't lecture members about leadership skills; we give them responsibilities and mentoring to help.

🐰Since our children have all grown and moved away, we spend our holidays alone. last year we decided to open our shop and spend holidays with others who are alone. This Easter we had an abundance of people join us, and I want to thank each and every one of you for coming. It makes our holidays fulfilling.💐

Continuing on with our Executive Baker lineup we have Tracy Driehaus.

Tracy works at Kutztown University in the College of Education, where she spends her days partnering with schools and supporting future teachers. But at home, her most important role is mom to three adult daughters, each of whom has very strong and very specific opinions about what qualifies as the “best family dessert.” Baking and cooking in the Driehaus kitchen is equal parts therapy, creativity, and friendly debate. She’s excited (and slightly nervous!) to see how this auction crowd judges the family favorite she’s bringing to the table. Tracy is proud to participate in the Friend, Inc. bake-off and auction, helping raise funds to support the incredible work Friend, Inc. does in our community.

Sara Appleman has proudly served the Berks County community for years, both on the board of Friend Inc. and as a member of Leadership Berks. For the Appleman family, service is a faith-driven calling rooted in their home at St. Mary’s. This year, the family is putting their heart into the Friend Inc.
