KU NAACP students, Pen2Paper, Diversity Council student representatives, student leaders and staff from KU's Multicultural Center were honored to attend the Reading NAACP branch's celebration of Founder's Day Thursday, Feb. 12. Students from Reading Area High School, Alvernia University and Albright College were also in attendance with local Reading NAACP branch members, including branch president and KU alumni Wynton Butler. Kutztown is currently the only PASSHE school with an active student NAACP chapter; other sister schools are now looking to follow our example. KU students networked with community leaders, spoke with high school students about college life and learned about NAACP history. We are so proud and impressed by our students, their continuous meaningful engagement with the community and excellence in student leadership.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for yesterday’s Indigenous Showcase.
Sharing space, stories, and community with you made this event truly meaningful.
As we shared at the event:
“Each of these leaders stands within a long tradition of Indigenous resistance, care, and stewardship. Their stories reflect the strength of their nations and the vision of Indigenous communities worldwide.
We honor that this showcase takes place on Lenepehoking, the traditional home of the Lenni Lenape. We express our gratitude for their enduring relationships with this land, and we commit to learning and supporting Indigenous communities.”
We are deeply grateful to the Panhellenic Council, the Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge, the Council of Three Rivers, Barry Lee from Spirit Wing Music, Aramark, and every partner whose support made this event possible.
An especially heartfelt thank you to the Council of Three Rivers for their educational performance and for traveling all the way from Pittsburgh to be with us.
And finally, thank you to every student who came to learn, honor, and celebrate Indigenous cultures with us. Your presence made this showcase complete. 🌻
