🌟 Celebrating Our 2025-2026 Kutztown Rotary People of Action Award 🌟
Great communities don’t just happen — they are built, sustained, and inspired by people who step forward, bring others together, and turn vision into reality. This week, the Kutztown Rotary Club had the honor of recognizing one of those remarkable leaders.
We are proud to present this year’s Kutztown Rotary People of Action Award to Sandy Green.
A lifelong resident of the Kutztown area, Sandy has dedicated her life to strengthening our community through leadership, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to service. She truly embodies Rotary’s spirit of Service Above Self.
Sandy made history as the first woman elected Mayor of Kutztown, serving for 12 years and guiding the borough through meaningful growth and revitalization. Under her leadership, Kutztown earned Main Street designation, expanded economic development efforts, and deepened its partnership with Kutztown University — building a “town and gown” connection that continues to benefit both.
But Sandy’s impact reaches far beyond her time in office.
For more than two decades, she has been a driving force within the Kutztown Community Partnership, helping lead initiatives that support the arts, enhance quality of life, and bring people together. She has a rare ability to turn vision into action — the kind of leader who doesn’t ask, “Why hasn’t this been done?” but instead says, “Let’s get started.”
Her influence can be seen in some of Kutztown’s most meaningful recent projects:
*The Wall That Heals (2023) — bringing a powerful experience of remembrance and healing to thousands of visitors
*The Keith Haring Fitness Court — securing Kutztown as one of only ten communities nationwide to receive this innovative blend of public art and wellness
*The restoration of the historic Kutztown Strand Theatre — helping preserve a beloved cultural landmark and reimagine its future
Through her continued work with Kutztown University — as Community Liaison, Government Relations Assistant, and member of the Council of Trustees — Sandy has strengthened connections that enrich both the campus and the community. Her impact has been so significant that she received the University’s **President’s Medal**, becoming the first non‑alumna and first woman to earn this honor.
What sets Sandy apart is not just what she has accomplished, but how she leads — with humility, determination, and a genuine love for her community. She doesn’t seek recognition. She simply sees what needs to be done and gets to work. And along the way, she inspires the rest of us to do the same.
For her lifetime of meaningful service, we are honored to recognize Sandy Green with the Kutztown Rotary People of Action Award.
We also celebrated our Paul Harris Fellows and recognized members who continue to uplift and strengthen our community in real, lasting ways.
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.
There is so much heart in Kutztown — and we are grateful to be part of it. 💛
