Thank you to GSKU club president Sierra Smart for making the trip to Emmaus today to search for a time capsule buried at the community park by a group of Girl Scouts in the 1980s. Our GPR results show an anomalous feature which may be the time capsule, but as usual with geophysics, excavation is necessary to know for sure.

GSKU was at Wrightsville yesterday, surveying for unmarked burials at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Thank you, Tina Charles, for the invitation! And a huge thank you to KU students Joaquin Perez and Emily Asch for volunteering to help with this work! We had a slow start with the scattered showers impeding our progress, but managed to complete the data collection before the evening showers hit.

Thank you to the many KU students who volunteered to assist: Blake Bower, Hunter Dufresne, Elizabeth Keim, Matthew Locklier, Todd Messner, Joaquin Perez, Sierra Smart . . . could not have done that without you.

GSKU members Sierra Smart, Elizabeth Keim, and Abe Friehauf have been hard at work in the HEAT this week, collecting resistivity data at a mine site in Kaska that is targeted for remediation. These surveys are being done to guide the surface remediation efforts by locating very old subsurface mines beneath the surface mine.
