The Foundation will operate exclusively to further the educational purposes of the School District.

Connecting Resources to Inspiration
The Kuna Education Foundation supports teachers and students in the Kuna Joint School District No. 3 through grants and scholarships. The sole activities of the foundation will be to solicit charitable contributions, to expend funds to offset the expenses of the School District's educational activities that are not funded by public authorities, and to raise an endowment that will generate future income for similar purposes. The activities of the Foundation will be directed by its board generally. Examples of the type of expenditures that the foundation may make include expenditures for equipment and uniforms band, orchestral, and choral groups; expenses for academic competitions and associated programs, and expenses for innovative classroom technology.

On Nov. 3, 2026, Kuna School District voters will consider renewing the district’s supplemental levy for two years at the same amount $3,609,360 a year.

If approved, the levy will be used for salaries and benefits for teachers, coaches, and school resource officers for the next two school years to maintain opportunities and supports for students.

Specifically, funds would maintain the following:

40 teachers
30 coaching stipends
A School Resource Officer
NO TAX INCREASE

Tax Impact: The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy is a tax of $53.64 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions. The proposed levy replaces an existing levy that expires on June 30, 2027, and that currently costs $53.64 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. Therefore, if the proposed levy is approved, the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value is not expected to change. The proposed levy would be assessed for two years.

The the list of "we didn't have that in high school," grows longer almost every time we present a Bridge Grant at one of the high schools in the Kuna Jt. School District No. 3!
This time it was at Swan Falls High School when we presented the Bridge Grant to the "dream team" Amanda Linzy and Katheryn Buchan. Amanda and Katheryn teach American Character classes at Swan Falls High School. The double block class combines English Literature and US History in a very unique way. Students are assigned a piece of classic literature to read from the same period of history they are studying in US History. The curriculum was developed last year and the class doubled in size from last year to this year.
Meeting Amanda and Katheryn I can understand how their classes would be so popular. The energy they shared with me about their lessons and the activities they have planned with their students for this year had me wanting to return to high school so I could sign up for their class. Do you know what the difference between a hobo and a bum was during the Great Depression? How about the fact that a cloth tied to the end of a stick is called a bindle? Students were challenged to carry their belongings in a bindle to bring the lessons to life and understand the effect of the Great Depression on the American working class. If that's all you can carry, what do you keep and what do you leave behind. Good thing hobo's didn't have iPhones.
Thank you Ms. Linzy and Ms. Buchan for inspiring learners through creative lessons and bringing history and literature to life for the high school students in the Kuna School District!

Walking into a classroom full of 6th graders feels pretty intimidating, if you're not used to it. For Sue Calhoun at Kuna Middle School, it's a walk in the park.
Sue teaches World History to sixth grade students and when I walked in the class was engrossed in their studies. The class erupted in cheers when we explained that Mrs. Calhoun was the recipient of a Bridge Grant. Usually it takes some encouragement for middle school students to share what makes their teacher great. Not this group. Answers were sincere and shared that she is kind, helps them learn, and keeps the class from getting to rowdy. The one response that really stuck with me was from a student who shared that when they were disruptive in class, Mrs. Calhoun corrected his behavior but was kind and still helped them understand what they were supposed to be learning. It takes an incredibly special teacher to be praised by a 6th grader for the way she corrected their behavior.
Thank you for all you do for students in the Kuna School District and Kuna Middle School!

Presenting a Bridge Grant is one of the most rewarding activities of volunteering with the Kuna Education Foundation. It's also heartwarming when a teacher who had a positive impact on a student and parent four years ago, is selected by administration to receive a Bridge Grant AND you get to surprise her with a visit from that student!
Bobbi Brown has been a teacher in the Kuna School District for a number of years. She taught kindergarten at Reed Elementary until two years ago when she transitioned to Special Education and now teaches in the Extended Resource Room at Hubbard Elementary School. Bobbi displays dedication, flexibility and compassion while working hard to support her students and fellow staff. She spends "hours" working to create fun and engaging ways for them to learn.
Thank you Bobbi for making a difference in Kuna!

Kuna Education Foundation is honored to have partnered with Zeta chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) to recognize four new teachers in the Kuna School District with the Helen Bryce Scholarship.
ADK is a worldwide teacher sorority with over 26,000 members in more than 1,000 chapters. The Zeta Chapter members represent teachers in West Ada and Kuna School Districts. ADK's purpose is to empower women in education, advance educational excellence, and altruism in their communities. The Helen Bryce Scholarship was named for one of the founding members of ADK who taught 1st Grade in Meridian schools for 37 years and was one of the original founders of the Zeta Chapter of ADK.
The Zeta Chapter raised enough funds to provide $500 scholarships to 10 teachers who have been teaching for less than three years. Six teachers in the West Ada School District and four in the Kuna School District. Teachers were selected at random to receive these scholarships.

We had so much fun at the Kuna High School homecoming game on Friday night where we wrapped up our 50/50 raffle! Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer on our Kavemen as they put another mark in the W column for this season!

Telling people they have won a raffle is fun but it's even more fun when they say "I never win anything!" Icing on the cake was meeting and chatting with our winner Erin Nicklos! Erin won $214!!! The remaining proceeds were divided evenly between the KHS National Honor Society and the Kuna Education Foundation.

In the past few days we have received a number of donations from you, our community! In total, we have received more than $800 to the Feed the Kavemen Fund. We look forward to being the path for our community to help students receive nutritious meals while at school!
