The end of the school year is just days away but we have one more amazing teacher to recognize before school's out for summer!
Our last stop for the 2025-2026 school year was at Initial Point High School, where we got to visit the art classroom of Ms. Kellie Cook.

Kellie is the longest-standing teacher on staff at Initial Point and is wrapping up her 13th year of teaching there!! Principal, Griswold shared that Kellie has the ability to help "students who don't believe that have artistic talent discover their creativity and produce truly remarkable work." This gift was evident in the works of art that adorned the walls of her classroom.
In addition to educational instruction, Ms. Cook has an understanding of complex behaviors many alternative school students bring with them. She looks past the surface behavior with a calm and steady presence and is able to identify root causes. This helps the student feel seen and then she helps guide them toward positive paths forward. All of these gifts are foundational to the culture at IPHS!
We are so grateful we could provide just a small amount of funding for supplies for your classroom Ms. Cook and we can't wait to see what your students continue to create with you as their guide.

Kuna schools have some of the most amazing teachers who dedicate themselves to helping students learn. Will Ayers, at Fremont Middle School, is defiantly one of those teachers!
He was asked to teach a drama class, something FMS had never offered before and said "Challenge Accepted." He had no curriculum or lessons and has made the class fun and successful for students, all while making adjustments along the way to make it work best for the students. If all that wasn't enough, when asked to teach the class again next year he said "You bet."

We got to ask his science class what makes him a good teacher. One student said "just the fact that he teaches science." Another student volunteered that Mr. Ayers doesn't get upset when they say "Guess What! Chicken butt!" Which is an essential skill to have when working with school students!
Thank you for all you do for the students at Fremont and the Kuna Jt. School District No. 3! We hope the Bridge Grant helps fund some items that will support you as much as you support our students!

May is more than half gone but teachers in the Kuna School District are still hard at work supporting students before summer break starts.
One of those hard working teachers is Mr. Garrett Van Arsdell. Principal, Michele Moore, shared with us that Mr. V (as the students call him) is the master of differentiation! He teaches a combo class This means he balances curriculum for two distinct grade levels with "remarkable ease," ensuring that no student is left behind. He fosters a "risk-taker" culture where students feel safe making mistakes! His students shared that he is kind and helpful all the time.
Thank you Mr. Ayers! We're thrilled you are part of the Reed Elementary Family as well as the Kuna School District!

Our Elementary Bridge Grant recipient teaches at Silver Trail Elementary School, and is described as the quintessential kindergarten teacher who looks like Snow White. Breanna Lyle joined Silver Trail two weeks after school started, which made for a challenging transition but "has done an outstanding job supporting her students," says Principal Tyler Harding.
Her students were ALL eager to share how much she has helped them learn by "doing a great job" and is "very sweet." She tells them good stories and helps them sound out the hard words, add numbers together and be ready for First Grade!
Thank you so much Ms. Lyle for all you do for students at Silver Trail and for the Kuna School District! We hope the Bridge Grant helps you set up your classroom for great success next year as well!

Our April Middle School Bridge Grant Recipient is from Kuna Middle School.

Mathias Megan started in the Kuna School District as a Paraprofessional and quickly demonstrated a strength and love for teaching and students. She was encouraged by her coworkers to earn her teaching certificate because of the characteristics she demonstrated. Now, Megan teaches AVID Elective at KMS. AVID helps students achieve Advancement Via Individual Determination. Megan helps students in the "academic middle" who have the desire and potential to go to college but need a little extra support. Students shared that she is supportive and could "be a therapist" with the way she helps them problem solve.

In addition to providing extra support to students, Ms. Mathias provides training to all the staff at Kuna Middle School to help students be their best. Principal, Anita Wilson, also shared that Megan is a mentor for new teachers and a strong leader at KMS.

As you can see from our photo, Megan makes everything a little more fun.

April definitely fooled us this year! We were so busy with scholarship activity, we didn't get to award our April Bridge Grants until this past week!
Our high school Bridge Grant recipient for April is Brittany Sanchez who teaches science at Kuna High School! Her Forensic Class students shared that Ms. Sanchez makes science interesting and easy to understand and makes sure they have all the information and materials they need to do assignments if they have to miss class. She is also known for staying after school to help with one on one instruction, accommodates retake needs and sets up "cool" hands on activities!
Thank you for all you do for the students in the Kuna School District Ms. Sanchez! We hope you get some great supplies to help set up your experiments and hands on activities!
