Snootles...a college student and her roommates bought this baby from someone at a Razorback game. He was said to have been 10 weeks old when she bought him on April 7th. I can promise you he was no where close to that. He still didn't handle pellets very well and when taking him to the vet, he may have been about 3 weeks old when I got him at the end of April. I know the kiddos had their best intentions, but you have to have a place and you have to have the background knowledge for pigs when you get one. They didn't have this. I had to start the process all over again with goat milk and greek yogurt, but he did really well. He graduated to goat milk and pellet pretty quickly and then water with his pellets. He is in the house and a fantastic little man.

Let's see BamBam. BamBam was found on the side of the road in Lubbock, TX after all of his siblings were shot. He came to me at 0.5lbs in March. Just in time for spring break, so I was able to spend the time I needed with him and would even leave work to come home to feed him. He was networked to me after a friend in Pennsylvania reached out to me. I had no way to pick him up so for a week, he was fostered with people along the way to get him to me. Once again, sleepless nights during the school year this time. Exhausted to say the least, but it was well worth it to make sure he was safe. He loves his "brother" and snuggles with him nightly.

Let's start with Baby Girl. Baby Girl was brought to me the day she was born, June 28, 2024.. One of my besties reached out and when I didn't answer my phone, she texted a picture. Momma didn't allow the other 3 babies to live and this little one was found curled up in the field. My first suggestion was to see if she would latch on...she wouldn't and 15 minutes later came my friend with a tiny bundle under her shirt because she was so cold. The first thing we did was check her temperature. It was 92.4 degrees. At this point, I was shocked that she was still alive. We had to get her warmed up and put some nutrients in her body. We got her warmed up to 100 degrees and started goat milk with greek yogurt. This girl was starving!!! She wanted fed every 30 minutes to an hour and there was many sleepless nights, but that's ok. She was and is a fighter. She had an adopter so I just kept calling her Baby Girl...sometimes things don't work out, so she still has the name Baby Girl and knows it. She is potty trained and everything. She is not up for adoption after everything we went through together, but I just wanted to introduce her.

DID YOU KNOW????

Pigs can start blowing their full coat after their first birthday, but some may have partial blows around six months old.

Most of my pigs blow their coats around May and then they are naked land hippos throughout the summer. I do have one that has never blown her coat and she is 4 years old.

Just a little education for new piggy owners. I have seen so many posts about piggies losing their hair and they are so concerned. It's most definitely ok to be concerned and to reach out to someone that knows what is happening.

We have a local pharmacy that asks me to bring Wilbur in to see them. I make sure when they ask me that I make a point to do it because he doesn’t always travel with me, but I took him in today. He brings so much joy to them and the customers. Everyone absolutely loves him!

We have been closed to taking on babies for a while, but emergencies happen. This sweet girl was walking down the road where dogs would attack her. A friend contacted me and I asked her to contact the DCSD. They contacted me and I had a quarantine area. They brought her to my house and put her in the quarantine area on December 7th. She became ours on December 25th. She is officially out of quarantine! We named her Speckles, but she comes to “Hey, Beautiful.”

Transformation Tuesday!
This is Piglet. He came to us on January 28, 2023. After a good diet, I took this picture today. As you can see, hardwork and dedication to feeding pigs a healthy diet, a huge transformation can happen.
