This is such a sweet story!❤️
After 14 long months of waiting, praying, and persevering through more red tape than we ever imagined, this Saturday our family story takes a beautiful and holy turn. Ronni and I will board a plane to Florida - not for a vacation, but to bring home the daughter God placed on our hearts so many months ago.
In May of last year, we told a 13-year-old girl in the Florida foster care system that we would adopt her. The picture is from that day.
This Saturday, now 14, she comes home - to Dallas, to us, to a family she can finally call her own.
This journey began just minutes after what felt like a loss. When I lost my radio job in Orlando in June of 2024, I could’ve panicked.
But God was already ahead of us.
“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24).
Within moments, a door opened in Dallas. But the bigger door wasn’t just professional - it was personal and eternal.
Ronni had been this young girl’s guardian ad litem for years. We had seen firsthand the heartbreak of a child passed from one temporary relationship to another, never being chosen - never having anyone stay.
And as we prayed and sought the Lord’s will, it became clear: this wasn’t just a move across state lines. It was a move of the Spirit. “God sets the lonely in families” (Psalm 68:6), and we believed He was setting her in ours.
We won’t pretend this is the easy road. Welcoming a teenager who has never known the stability of a family or the safety of unconditional love will be messy, hard, and holy. But Christ didn’t call us to ease - He called us to obedience. “Whoever welcomes one such child in My name welcomes Me” (Matthew 18:5).
What an honor it is to say yes.
After months of navigating two state systems, dozens of delays, and being told “you’re almost there” more times than we can count, the moment is finally here. We have the tickets in hand. On Saturday, by God’s grace, we’ll bring her home - not just to a new address, but to a new identity as a beloved daughter.
We ask for your prayers as we begin this next chapter. We are walking into unknowns - but we are not walking alone. The Lord goes before us, behind us, and within us (Deuteronomy 31:8). We’re simply trying to be faithful with the family He’s entrusted to us.
May He be glorified in all of it.
