🐴 Then & Now: Iris’ Happily Ever After ❤️

THEN: July 2025

Last July, Iris found her forever family when she was adopted by the Minor family. ❤️

From the very beginning, it was clear that Iris had found something special. The Minor family, including their young children, have given her so much love, and it has been so fun to watch their journey together.

NOW: 🥹❤️

Look at this girl!

Iris is now spending her days being a much-loved family pony and learning right alongside her kids. The family has been participating in Routt County Gymkhana and Roping Club and Yampa Valley Pony Club, and they have been learning so many new skills together.

The video below is exactly why we love getting updates from our adopted horses. Seeing a child riding Iris and watching the two of them learn and grow together is just the sweetest thing.

From a rescue pony to a beloved family member, this is what happily ever after looks like. 🥹🐴❤️

🐴 Meet or new rescue, O’Malley 🐴

Named after the legendary Irish pirate queen, O’Malley has already proven she’s a survivor.

This beautiful 12-year-old mare came to Troublesome Creek Horse Rescue after being purchased from auction. Years ago, she was started under saddle as a 2-3-year-old and was being trained as a cutting horse. Unfortunately, after suffering a severe eye injury that left her blind in one eye, her path changed. She became a brood mare and hasn’t been worked much since.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be getting to know her, evaluating her needs, and giving her the time, patience, and care she deserves. We can’t wait to see who O’Malley really is!

If you’d like to help horses like O’Malley, please consider making a donation to Troublesome Creek Horse Rescue using the links pinned at the top of our page. Every dollar goes directly toward providing feed, veterinary care, farrier services, and rehabilitation for the horses in our care.

This year has been especially challenging. Due to ongoing dry conditions, hay has become increasingly scarce, causing prices to rise dramatically. As feed costs continue to climb, your generosity makes an even bigger difference. Because of supporters like you, we’re able to give O’Malley—and every horse that comes through our gates—the care, attention, and love they deserve.

Welcome to the Troublesome Creek family, O’Malley. ❤️

A huge thank you to the Rocky Mountain Farrier Association for their generous donation of horseshoes from their farrier competition! For the past four years, these donated shoes have been transformed into hoof picks, coat hangers, horseshoe painting kits, and other fundraiser items that help support the horses in our care.

We are so grateful for your continued support and partnership. Thank you for helping us make every horseshoe count! 🐴❤️
