ted making the 4-year-old stand barefoot on water caps. Investigators spoke with two male juveniles who said they saw him make the girl stand on the bottle caps and observed Delacerda strike the child in the head and torso several times. The juveniles also said they saw him kick the girl several times on her body. The Affidavit states Guidry told investigators that she observed Delacerda throw the child across the room on one occasion. The court document indicates he admitted spilling hot coffee on her foot and thigh and causing burns, and he admitted spanking the child so hard with a wooden paddle that he caused injury to her buttocks. Guedry, according to the document, admits she knew her daughter was being abused and failed to seek medical attention or to report the actions to law enforcement. The Affidavit states the child suffered a number of injuries that include, numerous broken ribs in various stages of healing, abrasions to her left temple, a bruise in the middle of her forehead, a burn mark on her left chest, a burn to her inner right upper thigh, a burn to the top of her foot, bruising to her vaginal area, severe burns to both buttocks, bruising to her left shoulder, and an old fracture on her left leg. "That child suffered months and months of physical abuse, sexual abuse and also neglect," Shari Pulliam with Child Protective Services told KFDM News. Words of comfort, hope at funeral of Breonna Loftin VIDOR - Dozens of people shared their grief at the funeral of a 4-year-old girl investigators say was the victim of child abuse. Breonna Loftin died Wednesday, August 17 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Officers working the case say the child suffered from months of physical and sexual abuse. She had a number of broken ribs and burns to much of her body. Deputies arrested Breonna's mother, Amanda Nicole Guidry, 30, and her boyfriend, Jason Wade Delacerda, 34, on charges of Injury to a Child. A song played through the speakers of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church in Vidor. It's about death and how a loved one is in heaven looking down on us. You could see the heartbreak on the faces of those who came to remember Breonna Loftin's short 4 years of life. "She was a doll," said Tommy Jones, a family friend. "She was one of God's angels the way I see it. I'm just tore up about it. How did something like this happen?" A question many are asking themselves. About 100 people filled the church and listened to pastors share comforting words of hope. One said, "The kingdom of heaven is made up of children like Breonna." Another told those gathered to remember the little girl. "I would get a hold of your family and I would love them like you've never loved them before, because there's no promise of tomorrow," said the pastor. "It's sad, sad, sad," said Laverine Cooksley. "She was so pretty." Cooksley lived near Breonna while she was growing up in Vidor. Cooksley remembers Breonna visiting her at her home. "It was Christmas time and I had a tree up and I had a little rocking chair," said Cooksley. "A little toy rocking chair she fell in love with." A child remembered during a funeral that lasted about half an hour. "How does something like this happen?" asked Tommy Jones. "I mean, we're all really to blame. Everybody. How do you let something like this happen to some precious little girl?" The little girl's body left the church in a pink casket. It was placed in a waiting hearse. The hearse led the procession to Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor where Breonna was buried. "How do we know this ain't going on other places?" asked Jones. "Everybody needs to be more aware of what's going on right around you." An awareness, an instinct, many say might have saved the life of 4-year-old Breonna Loftin. Hardin County District Attorney David Sheffield told KFDM News he expects to take the case to a grand jury early next month. He is strongly considering asking the grand jury to hand up capital murder indictments. KOUNTZE - (earlier story) - Family, friends, and people in the community who're touched by the death of Breonna Loftin will attend her funeral Tuesday morning. Breonna's funeral is at 10 a.m. at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church in Vidor. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Investigators say Breonna died from injuries linked to child abuse, and they're calling it the worst child abuse case they've ever seen. Hardin County District Attorney David Sheffield told KFDM News he's looking closely at pursuing capital murder charges against the four year old's mother and the woman's boyfriend. Sheffield said he would likely take the case to a grand jury in early September. Breonna died on Wednesday, August 17 at Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth in Beaumont. Hardin County Sheriff Ed Cain told KFDM news Breonna was the victim of what he calls the worst child abuse case he's ever seen. An autopsy shows the little girl died of brain injuries. Investigators say Breonna suffered physical and sexual abuse for months at the home in Kountze where she lived with her mother and her mother's boyfriend. They say an autopsy showed the child had a number of injuries, including hot coffee burns to her body, other burn marks and broken ribs. Breonna's mother, 30-year-old Amanda Guidry, and Guidry's boyfriend, 34-year-old Jason Delacerda, are charged with the first degree felony crime of injury to a child. If convicted, they could face up to life in prison. District Attorney David Sheffield told KFDM news he might take the case to a grand jury early next month and is strongly considering asking the grand jury to indict the pair on capital murder charges. On Friday, August 19, State District Judge Steve Thomas arraigned Guidry and Delacerda in his Hardin County courtroom. The judge set Guidry's bond at $1.5 million and Delacerda's bond at $2 million. A probable cause affidavit indicates Guidry saw Delacerda throw her daughter across the room on one occasion and that he made the girl stand barefoot on water bottle caps. The document also indicates Delacerda hit Breonna on her head and body several times and kicked her. Investigators say Guidry admits to knowing her daughter was abused and failing to report it or to seek medical help. There is an outpouring of support for Breonna in the community of Kountze and throughout Hardin County and the region. Pictures of Breonna Loftin show happier times. The tribute video on Broussard's website shows a smile planted on her face. Breonna is spending time with family, opening presents for Christmas. Investigators say the 4-year-old's life changed dramatically about six months ago. Her mother, Amanda Guidry, moved in with her boyfriend, Jason Delacerda, at this mobile home in Kountze. The sheriff says what happened inside was abuse of the worst kind abuse he says ended up taking the 4-year-old's life. Southeast Texans have listened to the allegations and offered an outpouring of support for the little girl. One person wrote to Broussard's and offered a message to Breonna. It says "safe and protected now by our Lord Jesus..never to be hurt again...play, run and laugh" "It's not fair. It's not fair for a child to have to face that. Every child deserves to be loved and wanted and I don't have any mercy on those people," says Joyce Flowers, reacting to the little girls death. Kountze resident, Josh Beaber adds,"parents don't need to be doing that. that's not even right. Makes me sick. I got a 3 year old son and I can't even think about doing that." "That's not even human to me. I just can't imagine to see whether there's anything human about that," says Flowers. A community angered at the evidence of abuse. but one that has opened its arms to remember the little girl. "Rest in peace precious girl," wrote one person to Broussard's. "I don't know you but my heart goes out to you. what a gift from God you were." One taken away after such a short life that has touched so many in the community. An imprint, a legacy, 4-year- old Breonna Loftin has left behind. Breonna was 4 years old when she taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX where she later died due to injuries resulting in physical abuse by her mothers boyfriend. Blunt Force trauma to the head being listed as the cause of death. Hospital reports confirmed that there were previous injuries as well as new ones. The child was said to have "bruised and burns" from head to toe. Deputies and CPS began an investigation of the house where visible signs of abuse were found. Investigators believed that the abuse had went for around 6 months. She was malnourished as well weighing only 32 pounds at the time of her death. Hardin County officials have stated that "This is the worst case of child abuse they have ever seen." Breonnas' mother Amanda Guidry,30 and boyfriend Jason Delacerda,34 have both been arrested and indicted on the charge-Capital Murder. The Hardin County DA David Sheffield is asking for the death penalty. According to Texas Penal Code-killing a child under 6 is punishable by death.
