Ten days and over 30 events celebrate the plantation heritage and modern-day vitality of Kauai's south shore communities of Koloa and Poipu.

Koloa Plantation Days is held on Kauai’s south shore every year in July. The many ethnic groups that came to Hawaii to work on sugar plantations, and the Hawaiians who welcomed them, are celebrated through music, dance, costumes, and food throughout this ten-day festival.

Catch Na Makuakane live at the Kōloa Plantation Days Park Celebration on Saturday, July 25, at Anne Knudsen Park.

Na Makuakane—“The Four Fathers”—came together for a one-time performance that turned into something more. Though never intended as a formal group, their shared love of music made every gathering memorable.

The quartet features Kelii Kanealii (formerly of HAPA), acclaimed guitarist Daryll Gonzalez, versatile musician Garrett Santos, and Norman “Kaʻawa” Solomon, whose years performing alongside many of Hawaiʻi’s renowned musicians bring depth and experience to the group. Together, they are Na Makuakane.
