Celebrate Labor Day Weekend with the Kokomo Park Band! 🎶

Join us Sunday, September 6th at 7:00 PM for “Melting Pot – The Spirit of a Nation,” a special Labor Day weekend concert featuring saxophonist Cecily Terhune and vocalist Sally Duke. The event will celebrate the people, traditions and spirit that make our nation what it is.

Bring your lawn chairs, invite your neighbors and enjoy an evening of music celebrating the people, traditions and spirit that make our nation what it is. 🎺🌳

From the golden age of Rodgers & Hammerstein to the modern pulse of Hamilton, this concert celebrates the unforgettable songs and stories that have shaped generations. Featuring vocalist Jana Gephart and the Kokomo Men of Note, it’s going to be a spectacular night of music under the summer sky. 🌟

We will have several guest vocalists at tomorrow's concert. Zion Smith will be the vocalist/rapper in Hamilton's "My Shot." He is a student of Cherresa Lawson at Kokomo High School. Jana Gephart will sing "No Time at All" from Pippin', and the Kokomo Men of Note will be featured in "George M. Cohan Medley." The Kokomo Marching Band will start off the concert at 7:00 with a taste of their summer marching program.

Tonight's concert theme was "American Innovation - The Birth of Flight." The audience enjoyed these selected pieces: Visions of Flight, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, Fly Me to the Moon, John Williams: Fantasy of Flight, One Giant Leap, Aviators March, and Top Gun (Medley).

Zander Bowers was our high school solo competition winner. His clarinet performance on Ernesto Cavallini's Adagio and Tarantella this evening with the Kokomo Park Band was excellent and he played so beautifully!

The weather cooperated for us to have a great concert outdoors this week.

Thank you to the sponsors for each concert. Tonight's sponsor was Andy Roller, owner of Comprehensive Planning Corp.

We had a pleasant surprise with the Kokomo Creek Chubs mascot Hooks making an appearance at our concert tonight. He made his way through the crowd. If you haven't gone to one of the Creek Chubs games at Kokomo Municipal Stadium yet, you will have to make plans to do so. It makes for a very enjoyable evening!
