Save the Date: Medical Mission at Home Coming to Kokomo!

On May 16, 2026, Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo will bring care directly to our community through Medical Mission at Home, a one day event providing free health care and support services to those who need it most.

The event will take place at the Kokomo Rescue Mission, where hundreds of Ascension volunteers, clinicians, and community partners will come together to serve our neighbors with compassion and dignity.

Community members can receive services such as medical, hearing, and dental screenings, immunizations, needed prescriptions, spiritual care, food distribution, and connections to local resources, Ascension providers, and financial assistance.

Medical Mission at Home puts our Mission into action by bringing health, healing, and hope directly to people and places where it is needed most. Attendees leave with a better understanding of their health, connections for ongoing care, helpful resources like groceries and clothing, and most importantly, a renewed sense of dignity and hope.

Because of the generosity of Foundation donors, the Emergency Department at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo now has access to a new i-STAT handheld blood analyzer, bringing faster, bedside diagnostic testing directly to patients when every second matters.

This portable, advanced device provides lab quality results for critical tests like blood gases, electrolytes, and cardiac markers in just minutes. By allowing caregivers to perform testing right at the bedside, the i-STAT helps physicians and nurses make faster, more informed decisions during emergency situations, reducing wait times and improving patient outcomes.

“Thanks to the Foundation and its generous donors for providing necessary equipment to our Emergency Department that improves patient care,” said Missy, Emergency Department Manager. “The acquisition of the i-STAT is a testament to the direct impact donor contributions have on enhancing the quality and efficiency of the emergency services we provide to our community. This investment in immediate, high quality care helps save time when it matters most.”

“This year I have the privilege of co-chairing the Charity Golf Classic to support the Birthing Center,” said Josh Stucker. “We know this is more than a game. It is about coming together to build a better tomorrow for our hospital and our community while supporting the Mission entrusted to us by the Sisters of St. Joseph.”

Co-chair Steve Smith shared, “Being involved in the planning is more than just a fundraiser. It is about ensuring our hospital remains a place of excellence for every new beginning. It is rewarding to see the community rally together to support families and their newborns for years to come.”

Applications are now open for the 2026 Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo Foundation Scholarships, made possible by generous donors who established scholarships to support associates pursuing careers in health care.

These scholarships help caregivers continue their education, strengthening the future of patient care across our communities.

2025 recipient Nikki shared the impact: “Receiving the Ascension Associate Scholarship has further motivated me to continue striving for my future career. I can’t wait to continue learning about the healthcare field and give my future patients the best care possible.”

Applications are open to eligible North Region associates pursuing a health related degree and will be accepted through April 1 at midnight.

Donors who establish scholarships create opportunities for caregivers to grow, learn, and continue providing exceptional care for our communities. 💙

Because of the generosity of donors to the Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo Foundation, survivors of trauma in Howard County now have access to compassionate, specialized care close to home at the Center of Hope at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo.

The Center of Hope opened in late 2025 to provide a calm, supportive environment where individuals who have experienced assault can receive immediate, trauma informed care from specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) nurses. Patients are also connected to counseling, advocacy, shelter, and follow up services so support continues long after their visit.

“When patients experience trauma, having services readily available is incredibly important,” said Missy Eagan, Clinical Manager of the Emergency Room and Center of Hope. “To see the relief on patients’ faces when they learn they can stay in Kokomo for care is incredible. I am so grateful for our donors and the impact they’ve made possible for our community.”

Because of generous donors, Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo can provide compassionate care when patients need it most, helping survivors begin their healing journey with dignity, support, and hope.

Welcoming a new baby is filled with excitement, anticipation and often a little uncertainty. For first time mom Emma, those feelings quickly turned to confidence thanks to the compassionate care she received at the Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo Birthing Center.

From the moment Emma arrived, nurses guided and encouraged her through every step of delivery. Their support did not stop after her baby was born. As Emma focused on caring for her newborn, the care team reminded her to care for herself too, encouraging her to eat, rest and recover during those important first days of motherhood.

“The support goes way deeper than just the external factors,” Emma shared. “It’s the little things patients may not even think about making sure we have clean sheets, that babies have blankets and that food is available while we’re there.”

✨ This kind of whole person care is made stronger through donor support.

Because of generous donors, the Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo Foundation is funding the upcoming renovation of the Kokomo Birthing Center, ensuring families continue to welcome their babies into a space designed for comfort, healing and the healthiest possible start to life.
