This week our program celebrated Week Of The Young Child (WOTYC), and our kiddos sure did have fun! We want to show you how we are a connected community within our school ❤️✂️✏️🚌📝🖍️👩🏻‍🏫🎉

What is Week of the Young Child?

It is an annual, week-long celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to highlight the needs of young children, their families, and early childhood educators. Established in 1971, it focuses on the importance of high-quality early learning, celebrating with themed days that promote play, arts, and community.

Our teachers and kiddos were busy, busy, busy this week! But we wouldn't trade it for anything else. Our teachers would not be here if it weren't for our kiddos, and our families. So, THANK YOU to all of those who support our program; whether you are a family whose child(ren) attends our school, or you're a community partner who helps support our program, or you're just a bystander who wants to see our program succeed! We will continue to flourish and grow with the help from you 🫵! We have some spectacular teachers who continue to make a difference in our kiddo's lives, and we want to continue doing so ❤️

You might think these babies are just cleaning off some dirt on their toy cars.. but to us early childhood teachers, it’s more than that! 😀

What these kiddos are also working on is:

• Fine motor skills (small muscle coordination)
• Cause & Effect (understanding that actions have consequences)
• Cognitive thinking (ability to think, learn, remember, solve problems and make decisions) 🧠
• Self-help skills (ability to do things on their own with little to no help)
• Counting (counting the doors on the car)
• Learning colors, & shapes (your car is yellow! The wheels are circles) 🚖🚘
• Social skills (sharing, taking turns, cooperating, interacting with peers)
• Verbal skills (mimicking words the teachers says, talking to peers) 🗣️
• Real-life connections (“Me and Grandpa went to car wash!) 💡

Who knew that a simple task can mean so much more? Our teachers take pride in the activities they do for each child. They make sure there is intent behind what they teach so that each kiddo is learning even when all they think they are doing is playing! 🤗

Love is in the air with our pre-k students! ❤️🩷💜

• They made chocolate covered strawberries and passed them out to the staff in the building 🍫🍓
• They made heart shaped pizzas to eat 🍕💛
• All of them took turns passing out their valentines to put in their friends valentines boxes 💝🍬
• We talked about what Valentines Day means and who we love 🩷
• They ended the day with lots of crafts to take home! 🖍️✂️💜

We had such a wonderful visit from Santa and his helpers from the Kokomo Fire Department! We had lots of smiles and happy faces 🥰. Everyone told Santa what they wanted for Christmas and enjoyed a cupcake and juice ❤️💚🤍🎅🏻🎄
Thank you for coming to visit our sweet kiddos and help make their day to special!

We want to wish everyone a very happy holiday!! 🦃🥧
Our pre-k kiddos had fun with a “Disguise the Turkey” take-home activity. They had to disguise their turkey so it wouldn’t get eaten!

Today, our preschool and pre-k kiddos made pumpkin pie in a cup, and had a school family lunch and ate together as one ❤️🤎🧡

Today we learned about Veteran’s Day 🖤🤎💚

Mr. Ron talked to our preschool and pre-k class about what it means to be a Veteran and what he did when he served. He showed us some of the medals he’s been awarded, how to do a funeral salute, and showed us pictures of him during the time he served! He also taught us how to fold the American flag. One of our pre-k students told us he wants to be like Mr. Ron when he gets older !

Thank you, Mr. Ron and all veterans for your service, all you have done to protect us and keep our country safe! 🇺🇸🪖🎖️
